Apart from acting in films and TV series, Russ Tamblyn also worked as a choreographer during the 1980s.

The current MLB Commissioner Emeritus of Baseball, Bud Selig had initially served the army and also worked as a car dealer. Les Mills is a New Zealand retired track and field athlete who represented his country at the Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games over a period of two decades; he competed in the discus throw and shot put events. Mills achieved his best result at the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games where he won the gold medal in discus throw.

South African pianist Abdullah Ibrahim, known as Dollar Brand, is best remembered for his socially relevant music, such as the jazz piece Mannenberg, which became an anthem for anti-apartheid activists. As part of The Jazz Epistles, he was one of the first black South Africans to record a jazz LP.

Jan Švankmajer is a recipient of many prestigious awards such as the Golden Bear, FIAF Award, and Raymond Roussel Society Medal.
