He earned a Ph.D. from Harvard University and began his academic work at the University of Toronto, where he remained for the rest of his career. He is a recipient of the Canada Gairdner International Award. 

Daisaku Ikeda is a Japanese Buddhist educator, author, philosopher, and nuclear disarmament advocate. He is best known for serving as the founding president of the world's largest Buddhist lay organization, Soka Gakkai International (SGI). Daisaku Ikeda has won several international awards like the United Nations Peace Medal, Tagore Peace Award, and Rosa Parks Humanitarian Award.

Mohammed Zahur Khayyam was an Indian music director and background score composer. In a long career spanning four decades, he won several prestigious awards, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in Creative Music and the Padma Bhushan. His music was rooted in Indian classical music with elements of ghazal. He was married to singer Jagjit Kaur. 

Nobel Prize-winning physicist K. Alex Müller was the son of a budding musician and was sent to an Evangelical college after his mother’s death. He later joined ETH Zurich and then continued his research at the IBM Research laboratory. He is best known for his joint discovery of superconductivity in ceramic material.

Carlos Germán Belli is a Peruvian poet whose literary work earned him a nomination for the prestigious Nobel Prize in 2007. Apart from writing poems, Belli also translates American, Italian, Brazilian, and French poetry into Spanish. In 2006, Carlos Germán Belli was honored by Chile's National Council of Culture and the Arts with the Pablo Neruda Ibero-American Poetry Award.
