Renowned 12th-century mathematician and astronomer Bhāskara II is remembered for producing the first written work with full use of the decimal system. Siddhānta-Śiromani remains his most notable work. He also worked on quadratic equations and succeeded Brahmagupta as the head of the Ujjain cosmic observatory.

Stefan Nemanja reigned as the Grand Prince of Serbia from 1166 to 1196. He is credited with founding the Nemanjić dynasty, which went on to become one of the most important dynasties of Serbia in the Middle Ages. Stefan Nemanja is also renowned for his contributions to Serbian culture. He is counted among the most prominent Serbs of all time.

Nur ad-Din reigned as the Emir of Aleppo from 1146 to 1174. One of the most important members of the Turkomen Zengid dynasty, Nur ad-Din also reigned as the Emir of Damascus from 1154 until his death on 15 May 1174. Nur ad-Din is considered a prominent figure of the Second Crusade.

Eustathius of Thessalonica was a Byzantine Greek scholar best remembered for his service as the Archbishop of Thessalonica. A pupil of Nicholas Kataphloron, Eustathius is renowned for his commentaries on Homer and for his orations. Eustathius of Thessalonica was canonized on 10 June 1988.    

Otto Of Freising, also known as Otto I, was the bishop of Freising. He is best remembered for penning an extensive history of the world, Chronica. The four-volume Gesta Friderici, the first two of which were written by him, spoke about Frederick Barbarossa and the house of Hohenstaufen.

Richard of Saint-Victor was a Medieval Scottish theologian and philosopher. One of the most influential and prominent religious thinkers of his generation, Richard served as a prior of the Augustinian Abbey of Saint-Victor from 1162 to 1173. A prolific writer, Richard of Saint-Victor published several important books, including The Book of the Twelve Patriarchs.

A twelfth century philosopher and translator of Arabic to Medieval Latin, Dominicus Gundissalinus lived in various Spanish towns before moving to Toledo, where he collaborated with Abraham Ibn Daud and Johannes Hispanus to translate around twenty Arabic works into Latin, including Avicenna's  Liber de philosophia prima De anima  and Ibn Gabirol's Fons vitae. Later, he also wrote several philosophical treaties.

Robert De Torigni was a Norman monk, prior, and abbot who lived during the 12th century. He entered Bec Abbey in 1128 and became the prior of Bec after several years. Later on, he became the abbot of Mont Saint-Michel. He was known to be a pious monk and an accomplished diplomat. He loved books and had a huge collection.
