Peter I of Portugal reigned as the King of Portugal from 28 May 1357 until his death on 18 January 1367. He is best remembered as a just king who perhaps believed in the eye for an eye principle.

Apart from representing the club Porto, Portuguese footballer Sérgio Conceição has also played for the Italian clubs Lazio and Inter Milan. He has been part of clubs in Kuwait, Belgium, and Greece, too. As a manager, he has helped Porto win 3 Primeira Liga titles, apart from other championships.

Miguel Veloso is a Portuguese football player and the current captain of the Italian club, Hellas Verona. Miguel Veloso also played for the national team from 2007 to 2015, helping the team finish third in the 2012 UEFA European Championship.

The eldest daughter of Portuguese king John III, Maria Manuela was also the first wife of Philip II of Spain, who ruled Spain, Portugal, Naples, and Sicily at various points. She died following a haemorrhage after giving birth to Carlos, Prince of Asturius, also known as Don Carlos.

Pedro Passos Coelho is a Portuguese university guest lecturer and politician. He is best known for his service as the Prime Minister of Portugal from 21 June 2011 to 26 November 2015. Pedro Passos Coelho is also known for his service as a teacher at prestigious institutions like the Lusiada University and the University of Lisbon.

Football player Eulânio Ângelo Chipela Gomes, born in Portugal, plays as a winger or as a right-back. He made his professional debut with Beira-Mar. He currently plays for FC Dallas on loan from Porto. He made his international career debut with the Guinea-Bissau national football team and represented the team at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Álvaro Cunhal was a Portuguese politician and communist revolutionary. He is best remembered for opposing the dictatorial regime of the Portuguese corporatist state, Estado Novo. Álvaro Cunhal is also remembered for his service as the Portuguese Communist Party's secretary-general from 31 March 1961 to 5 December 1992. 

Marisa Matias is a Portuguese sociologist and politician. One of the most important members of the Left Bloc party, Matias ran for the presidential elections in 2016. She finished third, the best result achieved by a woman in the country. Since 2009, Marisa Matias has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament.

Francisco de Sá de Miranda was a Portuguese poet. He is credited with introducing various classical poetic forms, such as the sonnet, the eclogue, the elegy, and the ottava rima, to Portugal and other Portuguese-speaking regions. In addition to poems, Francisco de Sá de Miranda also wrote a couple of theatrical comedies.

Portuguese poet Camilo Pessanha was not just a qualified lawyer but also taught in a high school in China. He is credited with being a pioneer of Symbolism in Portuguese poetry and was also an advisor to a number of governors. Known to be eccentric, he also collected Chinese art.
