Màiri nighean Alasdair Ruaidh was a Scottish poet who wrote in Scots Gaelic. Considered one of the most important figures of the new school of poetry prevalent in 17th century Scotland, Màiri composed poems that were celebrated for their natural rhythms and simplicity. Her poems largely focus on the heroic tales of the famous Macleod family.
