Simo Häyhä, famously known as The White Death, was a Finnish military sniper in World War II, particularly in the 1939–1940 Winter War between Finland and the Soviet Union. Armed with a Finnish M/28-30 rifle and a Suomi KP/-31 submachine gun, he is recognized for taking down more than 500 enemy soldiers, solidifying his position as one of the deadliest snipers in history. Häyhä chronicled his wartime experiences and accomplishments in his memoir, Sotamuistoja, which he penned shortly after sustaining injuries in the Winter War.
