Famous Leo Drummers

Considered the Father of Rock and Roll Percussion, Grammy-winning English percussionist Ray Cooper worked with the who’s who of the music industry, such as Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling Stones. His most long-running partnership, however, was with Elton John, and he also performed for John’s AIDS foundation.

Jan Axel Blomberg is a Norwegian heavy metal drummer known for his association with the popular black metal band Mayhem, where he has been the drummer since 1988. Blomberg is credited with forming an avant-garde metal band known as Arcturus. A talented musician, Jan Axel Blomberg has won the Spellemannprisen, also known as the Norwegian Grammy Awards, on three occasions.

Rikki Rockett is an American musician best known as the drummer of the popular rock band Poison, which he co-founded along with Bret Michaels, Bobby Dall, and C.C. DeVille. Rikki Rockett is also credited with co-forming a rock supergroup called The Devil City Angels. A multi-talented personality, he holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. 

Régine Chassagne is a Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She is a founding member of the indie rock band Arcade Fire. She began her career as a jazz performer and met fellow musician Win Butler, with whom she started Arcade Fire. The couple got married and continue to perform together. She is a shareholder in the music streaming service company Tidal. 

Best known for his ground-breaking cello-metal band Apocalyptica, Eicca Toppinen is a Finnish cellist and composer. He has also contributed to the scores for movies such as Aquarela and Black Ice, and for various theaters and operas. He was previously married to Finnish actor Kirsi Ylijoki.

Best known as part of the Swiss rock band Gotthard, Steve Lee was mostly a vocalist but was also skilled in the drums and the harmonica. He co-founded the band Krak, which eventually became Gotthard. He was killed in a freak motorcycle accident while on a biking trip in Nevada with his friends.
