Male Figure Skaters

Yuzuru Hanyu is a Japanese figure skater. Considered one of the greatest male figure skaters of all time, Hanyu became only the second figure skaters ever to receive two successive Olympic gold medals; he achieved this feat in 2014 and 2018. He also won the 2020 Four Continents Championships, becoming the only male singles skater to accomplish a Super Slam.

Known for his innovative footwork sequences, Scott Hamilton is a retired figure skater, credited with imbibing an air of athleticism into men’s figure skating. Remembered for winning four consecutive U.S. championships and four World Championships between 1981 and 1984, topping his feat with a gold medal at the 1984 Olympics, he later co-founded Stars on Ice—a touring figure skating show—and authored three books.

Two-time Olympic silver medalist Hungarian-Slovenian-origin Canadian figure skater Elvis Stojko had also been a World Champion thrice. Named after legendary singer Elvis Presley, he began skating at age 4. He also won the Canadian National Championship 7 times. He has also been a commentator and a show skater.

Kurt Browning is a Canadian figure skater, commentator, and choreographer. A four-time World Champion, Browning also won a silver medal at the 1992 World Championships. Kurt Browning was made an inductee of the Canada's Sports Hall of Fame and the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1994 and 2006 respectively.

Lloyd Eisler is a Canadian former pairs skater who won the Olympic bronze medal in 1992 and 1994 along with his partner Isabelle Brasseur. Eisler also won a gold medal, three silver medals, and two bronze medals at the World Championships between 1985 and 1994.

American figure skating champion Johnny Weir is also a two-time Olympian and has several medals in his kitty, including a bronze in the 2008 World Championship. The son of a nuclear engineer father, he was a skilled equestrian before he began training in skating at 12.

Sergei Ponomarenko is a Russian retired ice dancer who represented the Unified team of the Soviet Union at the 1992 Olympic Games, World Figure Skating Championships, and European Championships, winning gold medals in all three tournaments. He has also represented the Soviet Union in many World Championships and European Championships, winning two and three gold medals respectively.

Eric Radford is best known for his pair-skating performances with partner Meagan Duhamel. The two-time World Champion has also won three Olympic medals, including a gold. He was also part of the show Battle of the Blades and, in 2021, announced his return from retirement, teaming up with Vanessa James.

Two-time national champion and retired Canadian figure skater Nam Nguyen has also been a World Junior Champion in 2014. While he started his training in ice hockey at age 5, he later switched to figure skating. Post-retirement, he has been working as a power skating coach.

Ivan Bukin is a Russian ice dancer who has won three bronze medals and a silver medal at European Championships along with Alexandra Stepanova. He also won the 2021 Russian national championship. Overall, Bukin and his skating partner Stepanova have won three Finlandia Trophy titles and seven Grand Prix series medals.

Apart from being a popular figure skater who won an Olympic bronze, a World bronze, and 6 Canadian championships, Toller Cranston was also a talented painter. He once supported his skating career by painting. Following his death, his twin brothers and sister fought a bitter legal battle over his estate.
