Fernando Valenzuela Anguamea is a Mexican former professional baseball pitcher who played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1980 to 1991 and 1993 to 1997. Valenzuela's career included stints with six MLB teams, most notably the Los Angeles Dodgers. Known for his unorthodox windup and mastery of the screwball pitch, he achieved stardom during "Fernandomania" in 1981. Valenzuela won both the Cy Young and Rookie of the Year awards that season, and had a successful career highlighted by a no-hitter and time as a broadcaster for the Dodgers.
