Aashqeen was studying in engineering college when he decided to make videos for fun. He wanted to express his feelings about his dropping grades, and making videos seemed like a natural choice for the budding actor. His first Facebook videos were recorded on an iPhone. Since he lacked video editing skills, a friend helped him out in that department. His Facebook first video, published on January 29, 2015, was titled ‘Group Study (Expectations v/s Reality)’. The 1 minute and 28 seconds long video was a humorous take on the life of an engineering student. It became viral and earned more than 38k views, inspiring Aashqeen to take content creation more seriously.
His second video entitled ‘When You Carry a New Look (Expectations v/s Reality)’ was published on Facebook on February 2, 2015. The 59 seconds video gained more than 21k views thanks to how relatable its concept was. Aashqeen’s unique take on the day to day life of a college student began to resonate with Indian Facebook users, and he soon started gaining a steady following. His popularity as a comedy video star reached new heights when he simultaneously started posting videos on YouTube. The funny video entitled ‘Dance (Girls v/s Boys)’, published on February 4, 2015, gained more than 777k views.
Aashqeen’s initial success was solely reliant on the concept of his videos, but the quality was still lagging behind. He recognized this and started using a friend’s DSLR camera to improve the quality of his videos. This change began to bring more viewers and subscribers to his platforms. ‘Things We do During Night Stay (Girls v/s Boys)’, published on July 20, 2015, became Aashqeen’s first video to get more than a million views. It has gained more than 2.1 million views to date.
