Addison Rae Easterling was born on October 6, 2000, in Lafayette, Louisiana, USA, to Sheri Easterling and Monty Lopez. She was raised in Lafayette alongside her two younger brothers, Lucas Lopez and Enzo Lopez. By the time she was six years old, Addison Rae had started dancing competitively and took part in various competitions across the country. She went to Calvary Baptist Academy where she practiced gymnastics and became part of the cheerleading team during high school. 

Addison Rae was also exposed to social media at a young age as her parents have their own TikTok accounts; while her mother's account has gathered 13 million followers, her father has five million followers on TikTok. Rae started using Instagram when she was 14 years old, posting her first Instagram picture in October 2014. After graduating from high school, she went on to attend Louisiana State University where she chose to study sports broadcasting. Addison Rae joined hands with popular TikTokers like Chase Hudson and Charli D'Amelio to form a group called The Hype House in December 2019. By now, her TikTok account had gathered more than one million followers and Rae's rapid success attracted the attention of several talent agencies, including WME which signed her in January 2020. In July 2020, Addison Rae signed an endorsement deal with American Eagle to model for the brand's AExME Back to School '20 campaign.
