Afshan Azad is a British model and actor, best known for playing ‘Padma Patil’ in the ‘Harry Potter’ film franchise, debuting in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.’ Afshan was born in Manchester, England, to parents of Bangladeshi descent. She is from a family of conservative Muslims. While she was still in school, some casting agents who were looking for young actors to play a few students in the ‘Harry Potter’ films went to her school. She auditioned and was selected to play ‘Padma Patil,’ an Indian girl in ‘Hogwarts School.’ Prior to her selection, ‘Padma’ was played by Sharon Sandhu. ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ released in 2005, and Afshan later reprised her role in the four ‘Harry Potter’ films that released after that. However, she did not gain a lot of attention and could not land meaty roles in other films. She also completed her studies while she appeared in ‘Harry Potter’ films. She eventually started her own ‘YouTube’ channel, which now has about 31 thousand subscribers. In 2011, she accused her older brother of physically assaulting her. He had apparently assaulted her when he had come to know that Afshan had a Hindu boyfriend. She was dragged by her hair and punched repeatedly in the face.
