Alexa Demie Biography

Alexa Demie was born in Los Angeles, California, the United States. For several years, she did not reveal her age to anyone and people speculated about her birthday. As of today, some online sources state that she was born on 11 December 1990.

She was born to a single mother named Rose Mendez, who worked as a make-up artist. Her mother’s family had immigrated to Los Angeles from Mexico. Rose was very young when she got pregnant with Alexa.

Alexa was raised by her mother with help from her aunts and grandmother. She didn’t have good male figures in her life while growing up and didn’t develop “much respect for men.” 

There was a meth lab in her neighborhood and she grew up watching several meth addicts ruin their lives. Her family life was also horrible with the members constantly yelling and fighting with each other despite being supportive of each other in times of need. As a teenager, she ran away from home to escape the dysfunction.

She attended John Marshall High School, where she was constantly bullied by her classmates and became a loner. She became involved with performing arts in high school, and this helped her distract herself from her difficult life.

Alexa Dernie was a very creative young girl. She purchased sunglasses at wholesale rates and decorated them with jewels and other embellishments to create her own line of sunglasses. She then began selling them with the help of a friend. Even though the brand soon became popular, she was not receiving adequate compensation for her effort and stopped making these sunglasses.

While in high school, she also began writing songs. She had a keen interest in fashion designing as well and even designed a costume for one of Minaj's initial music videos. She thought of becoming a fashion designer but decided against it after attending orientation for an art school in New York.

Alexa Demie appeared as a video vixen in Azealia Banks's music video for her song ATM Jam in 2013. This was her first onscreen appearance. She then appeared in a short film for a friend.

She got selected to play the lead role in The Godmother, a biopic about Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco. The project, however, was cancelled. She eventually made her professional acting debut with a role in the short film Miles in 2015.

She was able to find an agent to represent her, and through them, she got some interesting opportunities. She appeared as a guest star in the TV series Ray Donovan and Love. She also guest-starred as Ingrid, a bilingual gamer, in the second season of the drama TV series, The OA. 

She also had a deep interest in pursuing a career in music and released her debut single, Girl Like Me, in 2016. She appeared in singer-songwriter JMSN's music video for the song Slide.

In 2017, she made her debut feature film appearance in the comedy-drama film Brigsby Bear, in which she portrayed the role of Merideth. By this time, she was dating JMSN and directed the music video for his song Talk is Cheap in 2018.

Alexa Demie played a supporting role as Esmee, a shy skateboarder and the protagonist's love interest, in the film Mid90s in 2018. She was invited to audition for a role in the HBO drama series Euphoria.

She was selected to play the character of Maddy Perez, a confident, witty, and popular teenage girl, in Euphoria. The series began airing in 2019. Her character proved to be an immensely popular one and she was called the breakout star of Euphoria by critics.

She played Alexis, a party girl who becomes pregnant with the child of a troubled high school wrestler she is dating, in the 2019 film Waves. She watched many videos on co-dependent behavior to prepare herself for this challenging role.

In 2020, she appeared in the comedy-drama film Mainstream as Isabelle Roberts, a game show audience member. The same year, she made a cameo in The Neighbourhood's video for their song Stargazing.

She portrayed the character of a drug dealer in Nineteen on Fire, a 2021 short film directed by Ryan Simpkins. That year, she also appeared in and directed the video for JMSN's song Love 2 U.

She put out the single Leopard Limo (Archive LL11) in 2021 and appeared in the music video for JMSN's song Act Like I'm Not Here. She teamed up with photographer Petra Collins to release a collection of erotic short stories called Fairy Tales. Pictures of her dressed as various mythical creatures were featured in the book. 

Alexa Demie is best known for playing Maddy Perez, a beautiful and confident but troubled girl, in the HBO series Euphoria. Her performance was much appreciated by critics. The series was a major hit and has received numerous accolades.

Alexa Demie is in a long-term relationship with singer Christian Berishaj, better known by his stage name JMSN. They began dating in 2017.
