Allison Mack started her acting career at the age of four by appearing in advertisements for "German Chocolate". She next ventured into modeling for a brief period. In 1989, she appeared in the movie ‘Police Academy 6: City Under Siege’, playing the role of a little girl. From 1991 to 1996, she did a number of TV movies, including ‘Switched at Birth’, ‘Living a Lie’, ‘The Perfect Bride’, ‘A Private Matter’, ‘A Mother's Revenge’, ‘Stolen Memories: Secrets from the Rose Garden’ and ‘Unlikely Angel’.

In the 1990s, Mack also appeared in the films ‘Camp Nowhere’ and ‘No Dessert, Dad, till You Mow the Lawn’. In 1998, she appeared in an episode of ‘7th Heaven’. Two years later, she starred in the series ‘Opposite Sex’. Then in 2001, she started appearing as a series regular in ‘Smallville’. That year, the actress also did the TV movie ‘My Horrible Year’. Soon after this, she co-starred opposite Sam Jones III in the miniseries ‘The Nightmare Room’.

From 2003 to 2004, Mack played Chloe Sullivan in the web series ‘Smallville: Chloe Chronicles’. She next had voice roles in the series ‘The Batman’ and the film ‘The Ant Bully’ in 2006. In 2010, it was reported that Allison Mack had been recruited by the multi-level marketing agency NXIVM. In a 2003 article from Forbes, NXIVM’s advocates portrayed it as a company focused on inspirational executive coaching while its detractors stated that the company’s founder Keith Raniere ran a cult course that was aimed at breaking down his subjects psychologically.

On April 20, 2018, Allison Mack was arrested by the FBI on charges of sex trafficking, forced labor conspiracy, and sex trafficking conspiracy. According to prosecutors, after the actress recruited ladies to join NXIVM, she employed tactics like blackmail and forced them into performing sexual activities with Raniere. She also allegedly enslaved them to do menial jobs for which she received payment.

On April 24, Mack was bailed and was held under house arrest in California. It was reported that if convicted of all charges, she could be imprisoned for at least a period of 15 years.
