Alyssa McKay Bio

Alyssa McKay’s journey as an influencer began in 2018 with Musical.ly, which was the former version of TikTok. She was still in high school at that time and joined Musical.ly because that is what most kids were doing at that time.

The very same year Musical.ly merged with TikTok and came to be known as TikTok. The transition to TikTok saw a steep rise in her followers. She regularly posted lip sync videos of popular songs, television shows, and movies. People love her comic timing, beauty, fun personality, and creativity.

With her TikTok account taking off, she decided to start her own YouTube channel in 2018. Her first YouTube video was uploaded on 14 August 2018 and was titled, My Experience in Foster Care. Her initial videos on her channel were long form vlogs.

Once she started making money from her social media platforms, she quit her job at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt in Clackamas.

Her social media fame soon got her a role in the movie, Leave No Trace (2018), which was directed by Debra Granik and had Ben Foster in the main lead. Alyssa McKay essayed the role of Valerie. In 2019, she was seen in one episode of Shrill, an American comedy series that premiered on Hulu and lasted for three seasons. She also appeared on The Arroyo (4) Show in 2019.

Over a period of time, Alyssa amassed quite a following on YouTube and TikTok, but she knew that she had to create her own niche to sustain and increase her following. In 2020, she came up with the ‘rich girl’ idea. She named her Lyss.

Lyss is a rich spoiled and mean girl. She is someone who thinks that she is better than everyone. She is too special to mingle with other TikTokers or attend boring college classes.

She first introduced the rich girl character on her TikTok account and her followers increased from 2 million to 7 million within a span of a year.

Alyssa turned to The Network Effect, a digital marketing and talent agency that was managing her TikTok account. They decided to launch the rich girl’s short form videos on You Tube Shorts. The first video was uploaded in February, 2021. Within a span of less than a year her subscribers went from 40,000 to over 500K.

Besides TikTok and YouTube, she is also active on Instagram, where she has more than 760K followers.  On her Instagram account, she shares photos of her having fun with her friends, boyfriend, and dog.

Right now, she is focused on creating engaging shortform content for Snapchat, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. She has also launched her very own customized Amazon Storefront where she intends to present her favorite fashion trends and designers.

She generates content that connects with this generation. Take the example of her rich girl POVs.

Her TikTok content consist of rap videos, diss tracks, and short comedy skits based on movies or television series. Her social media content are well crafted and cover topics that are relevant today like, Donald Trump, pandemic, body positivity, etc.

Alyssa McKay writes and shoot her own videos. She makes sure that she uploads at least two videos every day.

Alyssa McKay collaborated with Willy Wonka, a popular TikToker. They posted several rap battle videos, which were really flirtatious. These videos led to many of her followers branding her as cheater and questioning her loyalty towards her boyfriend, Levi. It turned out that it was planned that way and that her boyfriend was friends with Willy Wonka.

In her diss tracks, she often calls out people for doing something wrong. She does not shy away from telling it the way it is and this has made her a little controversial.

Alyssa McKay was born on January 11, 2000. She was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. When she was 9 years old, she was placed in a foster home. It is not known what led to this situation. She was later adopted.

Alyssa McKay is currently dating Levi Underwood, who is also a popular social media star. Alyssa connected with Levi in 2019 after finding out that he was also living in Oregon. Since they both had more than 700,000 TikTok followers, they decided to collaborate. The two hit it off right away and they soon started dating. They have been together ever since.

She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications from Portland State University. She is a full-time college student.
