Amy Carlson is an American television actress best known for her roles as Alex Taylor in NBC’s series ‘Third Watch,’ Josie Watts in NBC’s soap opera ‘Another World’ and Linda Reagan in CBS’ police procedural drama ‘Blue Bloods’. Born in US, she, alongside her family, moved to Amman, Jordan for a year before returning to their home country. As a school student, she was a promising athlete and participated in relay races. She is also a talented writer who has taken part in several writing contests. Following high school, Carlson studied at Knox College where she became active in the college’s theatre department, performing in the productions of ‘A Lie of the Mind,’ ‘Noises Off,’ and ‘Fifth of July.’ She eventually made her professional debut in 1992, landing roles in both the small and the big screen. Carlson currently lives in New York City with her long-time partner, guitarist Syd Butler, and their two kids.

Amy Carlson made her acting debut in 1992 when she played a part in the film ‘The Babe’ and also appeared in the television film ‘Legacy of Lies’. A year later, she had a role in the crime drama series ‘The Untouchables’. In 1993, she also joined the cast of the soap opera ‘Another World’ as Josephine Watts. Soon after the show ended, Carlson was cast in the recurring role of Dr. Sedgwick in Fox’s comedy drama series ‘Get Real’.
From 2000 to 2003, the actress starred as Alex Taylor in NBC’s crime drama ‘Third Watch’. During this time, she also played Jane in the drama flick ‘Everything Put Together’ and also featured in the television shows ‘ER’, ‘Peacemakers’, 'Falcone' and 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’. During 2005 and 2006, Carlson portrayed the character of A.D.A. Kelly Gaffney in the criminal drama series ‘Law & Order: Trial by Jury’. This was followed by her role of Alexandra Fredericks in ‘Anamorph’, a psychological thriller movie based on the concept of a painting technique called anamorphosis.
In 2010, Carlson joined the cast of the police procedural fictional drama ‘Blue Bloods’ as Linda Reagan, a role she played until 2017. During this time, she also did the films ‘Hits’ and ‘Natural Selection’. While ‘Hits’ is a comedy-drama about a municipal worker whose life changes when video clips of his rants go viral on YouTube, ‘Natural Selection’ is an ultimate drama film featuring Mason Dye, Anthony Michael Hall, Ryan Munzert and Katherine McNamara.
