Anne Stringfield got in touch with comedian and actor Steve Martin for the first time while working as a fact-checker for the 'New Yorker' in the mid-2000s. She was assigned to check one of his comedy pieces, for which she had to call him several times. The two talked over phone for about a year before meeting in person. Martin, who is an introvert despite being a celebrity, reportedly was intrigued by deeply shy Stringfield. Speaking of their first meeting, he would later describe her with a line from Wordsworth saying that she is probably the kind of beauty that inspired the Romantic poet to write "that whole 'violet by a mossy stone' thing".
Anne Stringfield’s gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Mary, in December 2012, at the age of 40. Despite being married before for nearly a decade, this was the first time the 67-year-old comedian became a father. This became big news in the entertainment industry, with Martin giving interviews to several TV shows and magazines about his experience of becoming a father at that age. Talking to an interview, he mentioned that he would have made a lousy parent before, but now that he did not have to worry about his career anymore, he can spend as much time with his daughter as he wanted to ‘The name of the daughter also remained a secret for a long time, with Martin joking on The Late Show With David Letterman’ in April 2013 that they considered 'Conquistador' as one of the names. However, Stringfield has only made one or two appearances to the media with her daughter since her birth.
