Aparna Nancherla started her stand-up career in Washington right after her graduation. Between 2012 and 2013, Nancherla wrote the scripts for the comedy talk show ‘Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell’. She was part of 20 episodes as a scriptwriter before the show was cancelled. Apart from writing for the show, Nancherla had also featured in a few episodes in 2013. During this period, Nancherla also featured in a few other TV shows as a stand-up comedian, including the ‘The Super Serious Show’.

After her stint at ‘Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell’, Nancherla received another offer from a television show for scriptwriting. For the inaugural season of ‘Your Main Thing’, she wrote the scripts as well as appearing as ‘Candy Singh’ for all the ten episodes. In 2015, Aparna Nancherla received another big offer to showcase her writing talent. During the 2015-16 season of the talk show, ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’, Nancherla wrote the scripts for all the 32 episodes.

As a performer, Aparna Nancherla has earned a lot of praise. She appeared in Amy Schumer’s comedy show ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ in 2016. In the same year, she appeared in multiple shows, including ‘Ms. Bula Banerjee’, ‘Briefcase’, and ‘Nightcap’. Talented as an actress, Aparna Nancherla soon received many offers from various producers and movie makers. In the subsequent years, she featured in shows like ‘Master of None’, ‘Flatbush Misdemeanors’, ‘Love’, and ‘Who Is?’ She was the voice of the character ‘Kishy’ of the animation show ‘Ginger Snaps’. She made multiple appearances in ‘Crashing’ as ‘Anaya’ before featuring in ‘Two Woke Gurls’ as ‘Cleo’.

Between 2018 and 2019, Aparna Nancherla appeared in ‘Corporate’ as ‘Grace’ and as a voice artist in ‘You're Not a Monster’. She was also the voice behind the character ‘Hollyhock’ in the popular comedy series ‘BoJack Horseman’ for three years. In the upcoming comedy film ‘Inspector Ike’, by Graham Mason, Aparna Nancherla is due to play the character ‘Fran’.

Aparna Nancherla was born on August 22, 1982, in Washington, D.C., to an Indian-American family. Her parents had lived in India until the 1970s before moving to Washington. Nancherla went to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology before attending Amherst College, in Massachusetts, to study psychology. She was named on Variety’s ‘Top 10 Comics to Watch for in 2016’ list owing to her growing popularity.
