Unlike his peers in school, Austin Peyton was focused on “real life” up until the boredom of Covid-19-induced lockdown finally compelled him to join TikTok in May 2020, when he was a junior in high school. He was immediately hooked and started to post 6-7 videos each day during the summer. While he initially made videos for his friends, he started to take TikTok seriously in August 2020 as he gained more and more views and followers. He was further influenced by the sociopolitical environment of the time to talk about issues like the Black Lives Matter movement or LGBTQ rights through his content. Around the time, he had only about 150k fans on TikTok, but within weeks, he crossed one million fans on the platform as his videos started to gain viral fame. Despite being very excited, he also started to get overwhelmed by hate comments for tackling such serious issues. Not only he wanted to diversify his content, but as someone who likes to goof around, he also wanted to create light-hearted content, which he focused on in the following months. He further expanded his reach to Instagram and YouTube, but is still most active on TikTok. With his growing fame, he has been able to be friends with other popular TikTokers that he previously followed. He loves to interact with his fans and always keeps his Instagram DM open.

Austin Peyton, who loves to watch movies with coming-of-age stories, struggled a lot with his own identity and even tried to hide his true self out of fear of judgment. He struggled with mental health the most when he was in the eighth grade. With the help of his parents, he eventually got out of the public school system and enrolled into an arts high school, The Chicago Academy for the Arts, which in his own words, “has made me what I am today”. Although he had opened up about his sexuality to some close friends earlier, it was not until June 2020 that he officially came out before his family and the public. While he now has a huge support-system in terms of social media followers, he has experienced hate on internet due to his politically charged content as well as his sexuality. Even though he has learned to ignore negativity, he has expressed sadness “that creators have to become used to hate”. He has also mentioned that the prominence of “cancel culture” makes creators afraid of making content freely. He was always aware that speaking openly about his views might be detrimental to his future acting career, but has nevertheless been vocal regarding causes he is passionate about.

Austin Peyton was born on March 4, 2003 in Naperville, a western suburb of Chicago, in Illinois, United States. He has a sister named Jessie who has featured in his social media posts. He attended a public school up until eighth grade, following which he enrolled into The Chicago Academy for the Arts with a major in Musical Theatre. He completed his graduation in 2021. He grew up performing in musical theatre since a young age and later became very passionate about acting. While attending art school, he participated in a number of plays such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Pirates Of Penzance, Crazy For You, As You Like It, A Man of No Importance, and Into the Woods. He signed with an acting manager after crossing one million followers on TikTok and subsequently focused on screen acting. He has already appeared in short films like Fish Eye, Hellcats and Sweet Jane. He also has over eight years of jazz dancing experience. He became a vegetarian while in high school.
