Career
Austin Porter has been fond of music since childhood. By the age of ten, he had started dancing. He also started playing the drums. Porter would frequently go to the church with his mother and participate in the church choir with her. Before he entered his teen years, he found hip hop and rap very attractive but later, as he grew up, R&B and pop music captured his attention. He started writing songs as well as recording them. He would often publish his covers on the internet.
On December 7, 2013, Porter released his first album ‘One Love’ under Hypnotic Melodies Entertainment label. The album contained nine more tracks apart from the title track, including ‘Woyo’, ‘Out By The Ocean’, ‘Look Into Your Eyes’, ‘Dreamers’, ‘Be Together’, ‘Turn It Up’, and ‘Don’t Stop The Music’. Porter also published several covers of popular artists like Adele, Ariana Grande, and Owl City. He partnered with Camryn Boci for Ariana Grande’s ‘The Way’ as well as Owl City’s ‘Good Time’ and Tyler and Ryan for Adele’s ‘Hello’.
Porter, along with four other teenagers, Brandon Michael Lee Arreaga, Edwin Joel Honoret, Nicholas Carter Mara, and Caleb Zion Kuwonu formed an American-Canadian pop boy band named ‘PRETTYMUCH’ under the mentorship of Simon Cowell in 2016. Cowell, also the founder of the music label ‘Syco Music’, along with the former president of his music company Sonny Takhar, suggested that the boys base their band in Los Angeles. The boys rented a home and started living together. They started working on their new projects, writing songs, performing, and dancing. On April 19, 2018, the group released their first project, an eponymous extended play. It was first released on the internet and was made available for digital download.
Porter later released several singles including ‘Would You Mind’ which entered the Top 100 on the UK Singles Chart and ‘No More’ (featuring French Montana) which reached number 77 on the same list.
