Acting Career

Aviva Mongillo started acting at a very young age after taking acting and drama lessons. She also started taking guitar lessons at the age of 12 after realizing her love for music and singing. She played the title role in the stage production of ‘Pippin’. While still pursuing education, she auditioned for the role of Alya Kendrick in the Canadian performing arts series ‘Backstage’ (2016–present). She was successful in her audition in spite of having apprehensions and was cast in the role. The character required her to play a singer who suffers from stage fright and knows how to play the guitar. Aviva not only identified with the character because of her own shyness but excelled in the role. The first season started airing on March 18, 2016, and the second season aired on July 28, 2017. It is one of the top-rated shows in Canada as well as USA and UK.

The fame from ‘Backstage’ turned Aviva Mongillo and her co-stars into overnight sensations. On October 29, 2017, she made her movie debut with ‘Don’t Talk To Irene’. The movie won two awards at the 2017 ‘Austin Film Festival’.

Aviva’s upcoming project include the movie, ‘Flarsky’, which is scheduled to be released in 2019. In the movie she will be starring alongside Charlize Theron, Andy Serkis, and Seth Rogen.

Music Career

Besides a successful acting career, Aviva Mongillo is also a rising music star. She has a recording contract with ‘Cardinal Point Music’. Her debut EP, ‘Songs About Boys’, released on September 15, 2017, is already one of the chart-toppers in Canada. She explained that the album is about a girl’s experience of opening her heart to boys and the happiness or tears that accompany the journey.

The album has seven original songs by Aviva including, ‘Wild’, ‘Hurt Like Hell’, ‘Hype’, and ‘Princesses Don’t Cry’. Aviva is the main songwriter of all the tracks on the album. Her involvement with the album didn’t end there as she also designed the cover with the help of her photographer friend Luke Avoledo.

Aviva is also active on her eponymous YouTube channel where she posts videos of song covers.
