Benjamin Edward Higgins was born on March 23, 1983 in Warsaw, Indiana to David Higgins and Amy Diane Higgins. He is the only child of his parents who are happily married for over three and a half decades. He used to play football in his high school years. He later attended Indiana University from 2008 to 2012 and attained his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management through the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) in Bloomington. A member of Delta Upsilon's Indiana chapter, he also served as their vice president of external affairs for some time.

Rise to Stardom

Ben Higgins, who easily got female attention during his youth, decided to earn fame on the small screen by appearing as a contestant on the 11th season of 'The Bachelorette', featuring Kaitlyn Bristowe, in May 2015. Despite being a fan favorite, he was left without a rose by Bristowe in the eighth week of the show. Higgins, as well as the entire Bachelor Nation was heartbroken over the elimination.

Realizing the disappointment among the fans of the show, he was announced as the next Bachelor during episode four of the first season of 'Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise' on August 24, 2015. This was his opportunity to pick his own partner on the 20th season of 'The Bachelor'. He ruled the hearts of the contestants of the show and the female fan base of Bachelor Nation equally. During the filming of the show, he got the opportunity to meet celebrities like rapper Ice Cube, comedian Kevin Hart, soccer players Alex Morgan, Kelley O'Hara, comedian Terry Fator, and Indiana Pacers basketball player Paul George. He also got to travel across the nation to Las Vegas, Nevada, Mexico City, Mexico, Pig Island in The Bahamas and his home state of Indiana.

Professional Career

During his student life, Ben Higgins served as the Event Manager at Jonah Club Fish Fry for one year and three months in 2007-08. He was the Student Ministries Intern at the Warsaw Community Church for about a year since May 2009. In April 2011, he joined as the Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator at the Bakers Youth Club and served in that position for two years and four months.

He began working as a Business Analyst at Talisys (formerly Comprehensive Software Systems) in August 2013 and in September 2015, was promoted to Account Manager position. He became the Vice President Of Business Development of the company in February 2017 and served in that position the rest of the year. He co-founded Generous International LLC in October 2017 and is currently the President of the company.

Relationships

Ben Higgins is known to be a romantic who, despite being on flashy reality TV dating shows, believes in true love. As a contestant on 'The Bachelorette', he was really looking forward to being in a relationship with Kaitlyn Bristowe, and was left heartbroken after she chose someone else instead. During the 20th season of 'The Bachelor', after falling in love with Lauren Bushnell, he got engaged to her on the show in 2016. She had moved in with him at his place in Denver, Colorado, but was finding it hard to stay away from Los Angeles. They later broke off the engagement on May 15, 2017.

On the February 20, 2018 episode of 'The Bachelor Winter Games', he revealed that the split had devastated him for months and he found it difficult to interact with women on TV shows or in real life. While Lauren had moved on with Devin Antin, he felt like cheating someone on the first date he went to following the breakup. However, according to recent reports, he is dating social media influencer Lindsey Duke, who previously dated Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles.
