Benji Travis Bio

Benji Travis was born on March 27, 1984, in Seattle, Washington, to an Irish father and a Japanese mother. It is rumored that even though he often features his brother, Julian, in his videos, his mother hates social-media appearances. Benji attended the ‘Marysville-Pilchuck High School’ in Washington. Even as a young graduate, he was aware of his passion for cooking, but he ventured into the real-estate business instead.

The beginning of Benji’s ‘YouTube’ career was completely intertwined with that of his then-girlfriend, Judy, who was a student at the ‘University of Washington’ (2008). Back then, Benji was struggling in the dwindling real-estate market. Even though she was a psychology student, Judy spent a lot of time watching make-up tutorials on ‘YouTube,’ which inspired her own beauty tutorials on the ‘YouTube’ channel ‘itsjudytime,’ which started on April 7, 2008. Benji failed to see the potential of uploading make-up tutorials on ‘YouTube’ initially, but he stepped in to help her after she started getting approached by beauty brands to feature their products on her videos. Soon, she acquired over a million subscribers on ‘YouTube.’ He supported her by going through the contracts she was given and by sharing a small portion of his office with her. That was where their idea of becoming a vlogger couple emerged. On March 10, 2010, they launched ‘itsJudysLife’ on ‘YouTube,’ where they started appearing as a couple, posting real-life uncut versions of their lives. Judy’s popularity gave their new channel the initial boost it needed. Soon, they gained a subscriber base of over one million. A year later, on March 20, 2011, Benji started his food channel, ‘Benji Travis’ (‘BenjiManTV’), through which he converted his childhood passion for food into a successful ‘YouTube’ venture. The food channel has reached a subscriber base of over 367, 000. Expanding his presence on ‘YouTube’ in 2014, Benji collaborated with another full-time “YouTuber,” Sean Cannell, on ‘Video Influencers,’ where they share business wisdom through videos and celebrity interviews, giving their viewers advice on how to create video content that would appeal to audiences. Within a few years, the channel attracted over 490, 000 subscribers and was thus added to the list of successes in Benji’s life. His social-media presence is not limited to ‘YouTube.’ He has over 452, 000 followers on ‘Instagram,’ 111, 000 followers on ‘Twitter,’ and over 735, 000 followers on ‘Facebook.’

Benji met the love of his life, Judy, through common friends in his high-school days. He planned his marriage proposal at a Halloween party in 2010. Benji took Judy out on their neighbor’s driveway, where he had planned an elaborate show with a band of her closest friends playing different instruments and backing up Benji on the song "Sunday Morning" by ‘Maroon 5.’ The whole proposal was recorded on video by their friends and later uploaded on their ‘YouTube’ channel. They got married on August 12, 2011. They had their first daughter, Julianna, in 2012. Two years later, twins Keira and Miya were born. All the three children are an integral part of their parents’ videos, making them celebrities since birth.
