Betsy Woodruff is an American journalist, best known for her remarkable political writing and reporting. She presently works as a political reporter for the American news and opinion website ‘The Daily Beast,’ which focuses on politics and pop culture. Betsy is often mistaken as the daughter of either Judy Woodruff or Bob Woodruff. However, she is not related to any of these two personalities. The only thing that is common among the three is that they coincidentally share the same surname and profession. Betsy was passionate about journalism from an early age and wrote for ‘National Review,’ the ‘Toledo Free Press’ and the ‘Washington Examiner’ while she was still a student. She worked with various magazines and newspapers before joining ‘The Daily Beast’ as a political reporter. She remained a major contributor to the website’s news during the 2016 American presidential election. Betsy Woodruff developed an interest in the field of journalism at a young age, which only grew with time, leading her to pursue her career as a journalist. She received full support from her parents and eventually succeeded in making her mark as a reporter in the area of political writing and reporting. Betsy Woodruff was born on October 31, 1989, in the town of Purcellville in Loudoun County, Virginia, US, to Scott Woodruff and Jane Tharp Woodruff. Her mother worked at the ‘Patrick Henry College Bookstore’ as a bookstore assistant and is presently a homemaker.
Betsy started attending ‘Hillsdale College’ in Hillsdale, Michigan, in 2008 and obtained her degree in English in June 2012.
Her brother, Chris Woodruff, who presently lives with his family in Bangkok, Thailand, serves as an executive director at ‘Life Raft International.’ Her sister, Jane Woodruff, lives in Leesburg, Virginia, and works at ‘Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig.’
Betsy revealed in 2014 that she had a boyfriend, although she did not mention his name at that time. Some sources believe him to be Australian journalist Jonathan Swan, who currently works as a US political reporter for ‘AXIOS Media.’ The two got engaged recently, and pictures of their engagement were shared by Betsy on ‘Facebook’ on March 11, 2018. She also mentioned, “I’m going to get married to this guy.” Jonathan’s father, Norman Swan, is a Scottish–Australian journalist, broadcaster, and physician. Although Betsy and Jonathan have not publicly confirmed their wedding date, according to sources, the wedding will be held on September 14, 2019, in Washington, DC.
