Betsy Woodruff developed an interest in the field of journalism at a young age, which only grew with time, leading her to pursue her career as a journalist. She received full support from her parents and eventually succeeded in making her mark as a reporter in the area of political writing and reporting. She also shares her opinion on political matters and critical issues. Betsy illustrated her writing and reporting skills as a student and was part of her school’s ‘Dow Journalism Program.’ She also worked for ‘The Hillsdale Collegian’ as a reporter, a copy editor, and a ‘City News’ editor. As a student, she also wrote for the ‘Washington Examiner,’ ‘National Review,’ and the ‘Toledo Free Press.’ In 2011, she started working as a summer intern for the ‘Washington Examiner.’ Following her graduation from ‘Hillsdale’ in 2012, she won the ‘William F Buckley Fellowship’ from the ‘National Review Institute.’ She worked for a couple of years for ‘National Review’ and then joined the ‘Washington Examiner’ again. Earlier, she had a stint with the online magazine titled ‘Slate.’

Betsy joined ‘The Daily Beast’ as a political reporter in March 2015. With time, she has emerged as a major contributor of the news and opinion website. Betsy Woodruff was born on October 31, 1989, in the town of Purcellville in Loudoun County, Virginia, US, to Scott Woodruff and Jane Tharp Woodruff. Her mother worked at the ‘Patrick Henry College Bookstore’ as a bookstore assistant and is presently a homemaker.

Betsy started attending ‘Hillsdale College’ in Hillsdale, Michigan, in 2008 and obtained her degree in English in June 2012.

Her brother, Chris Woodruff, who presently lives with his family in Bangkok, Thailand, serves as an executive director at ‘Life Raft International.’ Her sister, Jane Woodruff, lives in Leesburg, Virginia, and works at ‘Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig.’

Betsy revealed in 2014 that she had a boyfriend, although she did not mention his name at that time. Some sources believe him to be Australian journalist Jonathan Swan, who currently works as a US political reporter for ‘AXIOS Media.’ The two got engaged recently, and pictures of their engagement were shared by Betsy on ‘Facebook’ on March 11, 2018. She also mentioned, “I’m going to get married to this guy.” Jonathan’s father, Norman Swan, is a Scottish–Australian journalist, broadcaster, and physician. Although Betsy and Jonathan have not publicly confirmed their wedding date, according to sources, the wedding will be held on September 14, 2019, in Washington, DC.
