Bonnie Somerville is an American actress, singer and model who is best known for her roles on TV shows like ‘Friends’, ‘NYPD Blue’, ‘Grosse Pointe’ and ‘Kitchen Confidential’. She did modelling for a few years, but returned to acting shortly after that. Career
Bonnie Somerville was discovered at the age of 17 by a modelling scout. Immediately after her high school graduation, she started modelling. She quit the fashion industry at 22 for personal reasons and moved to Los Angeles to form a band. She also sang as a backup singer for the album ‘We Were Here’ by Joshua Radin.
In the 1990s, she appeared in many small film roles. The first among them was as an extra in the 1996 movie ‘City Hall’. Her first significant role, however, was in the miniseries ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll: An American Love Story’ (1999), in which she also sang. Bonnie got her big break in 2001 when she was cast in ‘Friends’ as Mona, a role she played until 2002. Meanwhile, she also worked in several films and television shows, such as ‘Bedazzled’ (Movie, 2000), ‘Kitchen Confidential’ (2005-06) and ‘Golden Boy’ (2013), the latter two had her in main roles. She played a leading character in the TV series ‘Grosse Pointe’ (2000) and a recurring one in the popular drama ‘The OC’ (2003). She appeared as Rachel in the first season of ‘The OC’.
She became very popular after appearing in the police procedural show ‘NYPD Blue’ (2004-2005) and the comedy film ‘The Best and the Brightest’ (2010). She recorded ‘Winding Road’ for the Grammy Award-winning ‘Garden State’ album at the request of director and then-boyfriend Zach Braff. Bonnie is the best singer in the group ‘Band From TV’, all of whose members are American television actors. She acted in the television movie ‘A Holiday Engagement’ in 2011, for which she sang the song ‘Angels We Have Heard On High’. Her latest project was the 2018 film ‘A Star is Born’, which received positive reviews at the Toronto Film Festival.
