Brendan James Penny is a Canadian actor who appears in films as well as on TV. He became known after his appearance in the first season of the Canadian TV drama series ‘Whistler’ which revolved around the mysterious death of a local snowboard legend and the events that follow. His performance earned him a nomination for the Leo Award. More recently, he was seen playing a main role in the TV series ‘Motive’. The series was a police procedural crime drama set in the Canadian city of Vancouver. Penny earned another Leo Award nomination for his work in the series. He had also played a lead role in the Canadian TV series ‘The Assistant’. It revolved around the story of an aspiring actress, who becomes a film producer’s assistant in order to pursue her dreams. Penny has appeared in several other TV shows in his career so far, mostly in supporting roles. He has also acted in a few TV movies including ‘Along Came a Nanny’ and ‘A Dash of Love’. Both the movies were aired on the Hallmark channel.

Brendan Penny began his TV career with a role in an episode of the American sci-fi TV series ‘Jake 2.0’. The series revolved around a computer genius who works for the National Security Agency of the US Agency. He is later infected by nanobots, giving him superhuman powers. The series was cancelled after one season due to low ratings.
In the next few years, he was seen in movies, such as ‘LTD’ and ‘John Tucker Must Die’. In 2006, he appeared in an episode of the famous American horror fantasy TV series ‘Supernatural’. The same year, he also played an important rolein the Canadian TV drama ‘Whistler’. The series was about the events following the death of a snowboarding legend under mysterious circumstances. It aired from 2006 to 2008. He was nominated for a Leo Award for his performance.
In 2008, he played a supporting role in the movie ‘Poison Ivy: The Secret Society’. Directed by Jason Hreno, the film starred actors Shawna Waldron, Miriam McDonald and Ryan Kennedy in main roles. In 2009, he was seen in a supporting role in the TV series ‘The Assistants’. The same year, he also played a supporting role in the comedy movie ‘I Love You, Beth Cooper’. Directed by Chris Columbus, the movie was based on a novel of the same name by Larry Doyle.
He portrayed Detective Brian Lucas in the TV series ‘Motive’, which aired from 2013 to 2016. He was nominated for another Leo Award for his performance. He also appeared in several TV movies such as ‘Along Came a Nanny’ (2014), ‘Autumn in the Vineyard’ (2016), ‘A Dash of Love’ (2017) and ‘Magical Christmas Ornaments’ (2017). Since 2016, he has also been playing an important role in the American/CanadianTV series ‘Chesapeake Shores’. It is based on a novel series of the same name.
