Brett Jordan Dier was born on February 14, 1990, in London, Ontario, Canada, to Samantha and Patrick Dier.
As a kid, Dier studied “improv.” He learned to play the piano and reached the 6th grade of ‘Conservatory Music,’ including the ‘Suzuki’ method. A self-taught musician, Dier also learned to play the guitar.
Dier acquired a dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He is also a skilled swimmer and an impressive breakdancer.

Career
Dier began his acting career in the year 2006, with the TV movies ‘Family in Hiding’ and ‘The Secrets of Comfort House.’ The former featured him as ‘Matt Peterson,’ while the latter featured him as ‘Bradley.’
In 2007, Dier made his series debut by taking up minor roles. He was seen as ‘Jake’ in an episode of the Canadian–American co-production drama ‘Kaya,’ titled ‘You Can't Always Get What You Want,’ and as ‘Junior #1’ in an episode of the American sitcom ‘Aliens in America,’ titled ‘Junior Prank.’ The year also saw him in two movies, as ‘Kevin Janzen’ in ‘Seventeen and Missing’ and as a protestor in ‘Battle Seattle.’
In 2008, Dier appeared as ‘Alternate Clark Kent,’ based on the ‘DC Comics’ character of the same name, in an episode of ‘Smallville,’ titled ‘Apocalypse,’ and as ‘Derek Edlund’ in an episode of the horror/suspense anthology series ‘Fear Itself,’ titled ‘Skin and Bones.’
The year 2009 saw Dier as ‘Richard’ in an episode of the comedy series ‘The Troop,’ titled ‘Forest Grump.’ The following year, he appeared as ‘Dylan’ in an episode of the dark fantasy series ‘Supernatural,’ titled ‘99 Problems,’ and as ‘James May’ in an episode of the science-fiction series ‘V,’ titled ‘John May.’
Dier was part of two TV movies, one each in 2008 and 2009. He portrayed ‘Caden’ in ‘Every Second Counts’ and ‘Taz’ in ‘Phanton Racer.’
He was seen as ‘Marcus’ in ‘Dear Mr. Gacy,’ a 2010 Canadian thriller. His cameo as a breakdancer of the 1980s in the American comedy ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ brought him critical acclaim.
He was seen as ‘Jason’ in ‘Meteor Storm,’ as ‘Matt’ in ‘Goblin,’ and as ‘Marshall’ in ‘Made… The Movie.’ He also appeared as a young clerk in ‘Goodnight for Justice,’ as ‘Rob’ in ‘Ghost Storm,’ and as ‘Will Newmar’ in ‘Mega Cyclone.’
The 2011 Canadian series ‘Mr. Young’ featured him as ‘Hutch’ in seven episodes.
The year 2012 kept him busy with a few series. He appeared as ‘Jake’ in ‘Blackstone’ and as ‘Kyle’ in ‘The Secret Circle.’ He made a seven-episode appearance in the series ‘The L.A. Complex’ (as ‘Brandon Kelly).

After a break from TV movies for more than a year , Dier returned in 2013, as ‘Jacob’ in ‘Mighty Mighty Monsters in Halloween Havoc’ and ‘Mighty Mighty Mighty Monsters in New Fears Eve.’
Dire’s career graph surged in 2013, with his performances in ‘Bomb Girls’ (as ‘Gene Corbett’) and in ‘Pretty Little Liars’ and in its spin-off, ‘Ravenswood’ (as ‘Luke Matheson’). ‘Bomb Girls’ earned him a nomination for the ‘Leo Award’ for the ‘Best Guest Performance by a Male Dramatic Series.’
After joining the main cast of the award-winning romantic comedy–drama series ‘Jane the Virgin’ (2014–2019), which featured him as ‘Detective Michael Cordero Jr,’ Dier’s popularity soared. He played ‘Brad’ in the supernatural thriller ‘Exeter,’ which released in 2015.
The 2018 Canadian romantic comedy–drama movie ‘The New Romantic’ featured him as ‘Jacob.’
He is a series regular (as ‘C.B.’) in the sitcom ‘Schooled,’ which premiered in 2019
