Bristol Palin, the eldest daughter of the former governor of Alaska and the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, is public speaker, reality television personality and real estate agent. As a realtor, she works with Austin Home Seekers and has launched the Bristol Palin Team. As a reality television personality, she has appeared in two seasons of Dancing with the Stars – first in 2010 and then in the All Star season of 2012. Apart from this, she has appeared in other reality television shows like her mother’s travel series Sarah Palin's Alaska, her own docuseries Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp and MTV’s Teen Mom OG. Earlier, as a seventeen year old, she found herself in media attention when her pregnancy was announced during her mother’s vice presidential campaign. She later went on to become a paid advocate to promote teen abstinence from sex. She has also co-authored her memoir Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far.

Bristol Sheeran Marie Palin was born on October 18, 1990 in Wasilla, Alaska as the second of five children of Todd and Sarah Palin. Her siblings include brothers Track and Trig Palin while her sisters are Willow and Piper Palin.

Sarah Palin is a retired American politician, author, commentator and reality television personality. She was the governor of Alaska between 2006 and 2009 and was also selected by the 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain as his vice-presidential running mate. Todd Palin is an oil field production operator and a commercial fisherman.

She was named Bristol for numerous reasons. First her father, Todd, spent his early years in Bristol Bay and her mother, Sarah, worked at an Inn called Bristol Inn. Moreover Sarah, as a young high school student, aspired to be sports caster at the ESPN which was located in Bristol, Connecticut.

Bristol Palin grew up in Wasilla and initially attended Juneau-Douglas High School and later Wasilla High School. In between, in 2008, for a short period of time, she stayed with her aunt in Anchorage and went to West Anchorage High School. She graduated from high school in 2009.

Sarah Palin’s Vice Presidential Bid & Bristol’s Pregnancy

In 2008, John McCain selected Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential candidate and a few weeks later, it was announced that Bristol, then only seventeen, was pregnant and engaged to get married to the father of the child, Levi Johnston. Johnston was then a player for Wasilla Warriors hockey team. The news attracted a lot of media attention.

Her son, Tripp Palin was born in December 2008. After being engaged twice, Bristol and Johnston eventually split in 2010. A court battle followed for the custody of the child and an agreement was finally reached with Bristol getting the custody. Johnston got visitation rights and child support responsibility.

Career

In 2009, Bristol Palin began working as a medical assistant in a dermatologist's office in Anchorage. She also began studying business at the community college.

In May 2009, she became a teen ambassador for Candie Foundation which worked to prevent teen and unplanned pregnancy. As a spokesperson of the organisation, she made public appearances and gave interviews to promote the foundation’s cause.

In 2010, she appeared as herself in ABC Family’s teen drama series The Secret Life of the American Teenager. She played the friend of a teenage character who becomes pregnant and has to deal with the situation.

Along with dancer and choreographer Mark Ballas, she participated as a contestant in the 2010 season (eleventh season) of the celebrity dance competition show Dancing with the Stars. The two finished third in the competition.

In the same year, she appeared in her mother’s reality television travel show Sarah Palin's Alaska. The show was aired on TLC.

She also starred in a music video, Inside This World of Mine by Static Cycle, the Alaskan symphony rock band.

In 2011, along with Nancy French, she co-wrote her memoir, Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far. The book received varied response and climbed up to 21st spot in The New York Times Best Seller list.

A year later, in 2012, she featured in her own docu-series Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp. The show which premiered on the Lifetime TV presented Bristol’s life as a single mother in Los Angeles, Alaska and Arizona.

In 2012, Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas were back again in the fifteenth season of the Dancing with the Stars. They lasted only four weeks this time.

In 2018, she joined the cast of MTV’s reality television series Teen Mom OG that followed the lives of young mothers as they dealt with motherhood along with family and romantic relationships as well as struggles of day to day life. She exited the show in 2019.

In 2018, Bristol stepped into real estate business by joining Keller Williams Realty in Austin, Texas.

In 2020, she joined real estate agency Austin Home Seekers and launched the Bristol Palin Team.

Family & Personal Life

Bristol Palin got engaged to a retired marine and Medal of Honor recipient, Dakota Meyer, in 2015; however, their wedding was cancelled soon.

A couple of months later, she announced her pregnancy for a second time and gave birth to her daughter Sailor Grace Palin towards the end of 2015.

In June 2016, Palin and Meyer tied knot and around a year later the couple welcomed their second child, a daughter Atlee Bay.

In 2018, Meyer filed for a divorce from Palin and later that year, the separation was finalised.

She has often invited criticism for anti-gay and anti-gay-marriage comments. She even condemned Barrack Obama’s decision to back gay marriages.

She loves going for outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, shooting, snowmobiling and cycling.
