Chandler Riggs Biography

The road to stardom for Chandler Riggs was sealed quite early in his life. He was barely eight when he made his theatre debut at the Atlanta’s Fox Theatre production of ‘Munchkin’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz’. A year later, in 2009, he got his big breakthrough both in television and films. Not only did he bag the role of Tom in the film ‘Get Low’ he also starred in the television film ‘The Wronged Man’. A year later, i.e. in 2010, the magnum opus of his still super early career came in when he was roped in to play the character of Carl Grimes in ‘The Walking Dead’, an AMC horror drama television series. In the series, Grimes, his family and friends fight to survive in a violent apocalyptic world populated with zombies and the few surviving humans, some of whom are even more diabolical and dangerous than the zombies themselves. Interestingly, until then, Riggs had never read ‘The Walking Dead’ comics. But to provide depth to his character, he started reading the comic. Also, it gave him a better understanding of the plot and the character and also helped him portray well on screen. The series, currently running in its first season as of May 2017, has become the highest rated series in cable television history, smashing all previous ratings records. Other than working in ‘The Walking Dead’, Riggs has done a couple of projects including a short movie ‘Terminus’ as Daniel.

In 2014, he played George Bruckner in ‘Mercy’ and made an appearance in ‘Home Invasion’. In television, he made guest appearance as himself in the series ‘Talking Dead’. Riggs upcoming projects include the film ‘Keep Watching’ in which he plays the character of John Mitchell. Though Riggs was constantly praised for his work in ‘The Walking Dead’, his efforts gained widespread recognition when he won Best Leading Young Actor award by Young Artists Awards. In 2012 and later in 2016, he won the Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Television Series by Saturn Awards

Riggs was born on June 27, 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia to Gina Ann (née Carlton) and William Riggs. He has a younger brother, Grayson. Since February 2013, he has been enrolled in public school again. On May 28, 2014 he finished 9th grade at Etwoah High School in Woodstock, Georgia. Other than acting, Riggs likes electric pop music, playing videogames and also has a You Tube channel where he records playing videogames with his brother, Grayso,n and friends. Riggs favourite movie till date has been ‘The Mist’ which came up in 2007. Interestingly, Riggs is very humble to his fans and organizes a fan meet every year. Riggs romantic life has been quite popular too. In 2015, he began dating Brianna Mamphis.

Chandler Riggs is an accomplished musician and plays the guitar, piano, and drums.

He is also a talented photographer and enjoys capturing moments through his lens.
