Chris Hughes started his career as a model and was represented by Off Limits Entertainment. In June 2017, he was welcomed into the Love Island villa with Johnny Mitchell as the show’s new “boy bombshells”. At the time, he was introduced as a golf clothing ambassador. He quickly became a household name and went on to claim third place on the show along with his then-girlfriend Olivia Attwood. Apart from his affairs, he drew attention for his bromance with the series winner Kem Cetinay. After Love Island ended, he began appearing on various television talk shows and events. He also bagged two separate television shows with Kem and Olivia. Along with Kem, he formed the musical duo, Chris & Kem, and released the song "Little Bit Leave It" which charted at number 15 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2019, he began presenting live horse racing coverage on ITV Racing.
Chris Hughes is not only a huge sports fan, but has also participated in various sports events himself. In 2017, he made 13 appearances playing football for the Gloucestershire club Bourton Rovers F.C. and also played cricket in two league matches for Bourton Vale C.C. He was part of the celebrity Tailenders cricket team against a Test Match Special XI. A lifelong cricket fan, he is a middle-order batsman as well as a swing bowler. In fact, back in 2014, long before he surfaced on television, he had a huge season scoring three centuries for Bourton Vale’s 2nd XI. Prior to that, he played cricket at Gloucestershire at junior county level for three years before moving to district cricket. He supports the English professional cricket club Sunderland A.F.C.
Chris Hughes was born on December 22, 1992 in Gloucestershire, England, to Paul and Valerie Hughes. His father is a farmer. He is one of five brothers and has an older brother named Tom and a younger brother named Ben.
Chris Hughes took a live testicular exam on This Morning in November 2018 to spread cancer awareness and help others by showing how quick and easy it was to self-examine. He further revealed that when he was 14 years old, he was diagnosed with two separate testicular conditions, a varicocele on his left testicle and a hydrocele on his right one, for which he had to undergo three operations. After the broadcast went on air in January 2019, he was widely hailed for his “brave move” by netizens, and ironically, his brother Ben was able to detect a lump leading to a testicular cancer diagnosis. Later in September 2020, he appeared on This Morning again, this time with his brother, and recounted how his live exam helped save the latter’s life. Further, the two brothers revealed that they have joined forces for a new documentary titled Me, My Brother and our Balls, in which they candidly talk about how their treatments helped raise their fertility.
When Chris Hughes boldly claimed on Love Island that “everybody here fancies [him]" and revealed his intention of dumping Chloe Crowhurst, he was perceived as a “player”. However, his mother subsequently told This Morning that it was unlike her son and accused the show for being scripted. Moreover, his older brother Tom mentioned in an exclusive interview that Chris was rather a “mummy's boy” who was involved in a long term relationship for four years. During his appearance on the dating reality show, he was in a relationship with fellow contestant Olivia Attwood, but they parted ways in early 2018. In Jan 2019, he began dating Jesy Nelson, singer and former member of the girl band Little Mix. The two separated in April 2020 citing mental health issues. On August 14, 2021, he went Instagram-official with professional golfer, Annabel Dimmock, by sharing a loved-up selfie on the platform.
