Colleen Haskell is an American former reality show participant and actress. She became a star after contesting in the first season of the reality show series ‘Survivor.’ Right from her school days, Haskell was interested in working in plays and theatres. After earning a bachelor’s degree in theatre, Haskell joined a two-year course in ‘Miami Ad School,’ hoping to get a job in creative advertising. When she saw the casting call for the participants of ‘Survivor,’ she jumped in, as it offered her a chance to travel to a new land. It was a show where the participants were left to fend for themselves in a secluded island in Malaysia. During the show, she became a favorite of the viewers. Although she did not win the title, the show helped her enter the entertainment industry. After ‘Survivors,’ Haskell was offered a role in the comedy movie ‘The Animal.’ She was also seen in series such as ‘That ‘70s Show’ and ‘Maybe It’s Me.’

Childhood & Early Life
Colleen Haskell was born on December 6, 1976, in Bethesda, Maryland. Her father, John Haskell, worked as the director of support systems for ‘Geico Insurance.’ Her mother, Patricia, worked as a career counsellor. For her early education, she attended the ‘Connolly School of the Holy Child’ in Potomac.
Haskell attended the ‘Walter Johnson High School’ in Bethesda, for her high school studies. During her school days, Haskell was actively involved in theatres, mostly working behind the scenes. She was interested in matters such as set designing and lighting. In 1994, she graduated from the high school.
After high school, Haskell attended the ‘University of Georgia,’ in Athens. She earned a bachelor’s degree in theatre. During the course of her studies, Haskell undertook a six-month internship at the ‘London Film Festival.’ After graduating, Haskell spent a few months travelling in Ghana and France.

Career
Colleen Haskell was interested in building a career in creative advertising. With this intent, she joined a two-year portfolio program at the ‘Miami Ad School,’ where she learned copyrighting and computer graphic design. During her spare time, Haskell took up several odd jobs. She worked as a waitress, and also as an intern at the ‘Arena Stage.’ She worked as a clerk at ‘Books & Books’ too.
Colleen Haskell entered the entertainment industry just by chance. While walking in a mall with her friend, Haskell happened to notice a casting call for participants of a new show called ‘Survivor: Borneo.’ It was to be aired on ‘CBS’ channel. The show was to be filmed in Malaysia. Haskell participated in the audition, as it involved travelling to a new place.
In 2000, Colleen Haskell entered the realty show ‘Survivors: Borneo,’ as one of the sixteen participants. It was a survival show where the participants were left stranded on an island where there were just sparse facilities for sustenance. The participants had to fend for their survival, while the cameras captured every moment of their lives. They were divided into two tribes. Haskell was a member of the ‘Pagong’ tribe. She became a favorite of the viewers due to her outspoken nature and easy-going attitude. Haskell finished the show at the sixth position. She was the last of the original ‘Pagong’ tribe to be voted out. Although she did not win the title, Haskell shot to fame with this series.
After her exit from the ‘Survivor,’ Haskell returned to the ‘Miami Ad School,’ to complete the first year of her studies. Later, she moved to San Francisco to intern for her second year. Haskell had also made up her mind to take up offers from entertainment industry.
In 2001, Colleen Haskell was offered the lead role in the comedy movie ‘The Animal.’ It was directed by Luke Greenfield. The movie told the story of a man who met with an accident, and was saved by a mad scientist skilled in transplanting animal parts on humans. After his rescue, the hero started displaying animal tendencies. The movie was a comical tale of the events that unfolded following his rescue. Rob Schneider performed as the protagonist. Haskell performed as ‘Rianna,’ who was the girlfriend of the hero, and displayed animal behavior like him.
In 2001, Colleen Haskell was offered a part in the TV series ‘That ‘70s Show.’ It was aired on the ‘Fox’ network. It was a period drama series that focused on the lives of six teenagers who lived in a fictional town, ‘Point Place,’ during the 1970s. Colleen appeared in the fourth episode of the Season 4 of the series. She was seen as ‘Colleen’ in the episode ‘Hyde Gets the Girl.’
In 2002, Colleen appeared in an episode of the series ‘Maybe It’s Me,’ which was aired on ‘The WB’ network. In 2003, Colleen worked as an assistant producer on ‘The Michael Essany Show.’
In 2004, Colleen was offered a chance to perform in the ‘Survivor: All Stars’ series. She declined the offer stating that she had moved on in life. Colleen is presently not active in the entertainment industry.
