Dalton Rapattoni is an American singer-songwriter who gained fame for being part of the band IM5 and finished third in the final season of ‘American Idol’. He had an early beginning to his music journey, after being gifted guitar lessons by his grandmother. Diagnosed with the debilitating bipolar disorder, music worked as a therapeutic outlet for him. His participation in ‘American Idol: The Farewell Season’ made him a household name and it was clear that the young singer had a bright future ahead of him. Rapattoni is not only an accomplished singer but is trained in playing guitar, drums, bass, and piano. ‘Heaven’ and ‘Turn To Stone’ are two of his most popular songs and have thousands of views on YouTube. Dalton is also a vocal advocate for social causes like raising awareness of bipolar disorder, suicide prevention, and mental health. This is why his legion of fans are known as ‘nobodies’—the ones who are ignored. They are named after his mother’s favorite poem ‘I’m Nobody’ by Emily Dickinson.

Early Career
Dalton Rapattoni started his music journey at a very young age. He started practicing music when he was only eleven years old. At the age of twelve, the singer started studying music at the ‘School of Rock’ in Dallas as well as the one in Fresco, Texas. Here he formed a garage band named, ‘Fly Away Hero’, with his friends.
He had to break up ‘Fly Away Hero’ when he participated in an American boy band talent search. He submitted an audition video at a local Dallas mall and got selected as one of the original members of the pop boy band ‘IM5’. The band made their debut in 2011. Some of the most popular songs featuring Dalton were ‘Everything About U’, ‘Disney Dudez’, and ‘Zero Gravity’. He left the band in 2014 to pursue a solo career.
In 2015, Dalton also started teaching at the ‘School of Rock’ in Dallas and also in Rockwall. Around this time, he also reformed his old band Fly Away Hero and released the EP ‘Lost And Found’ which was received well by his fans. It topped the charts at number 22 on the ‘iTunes Alternative Chart’. The EP was also featured at number 17 on the ‘Billboard Heetseekers’ chart.

American Idol & Solo Career
The second major turning point in Dalton Rapattoni’s young music career came in 2015 when he auditioned for the fifteenth season of ‘American Idol’. The season was supposed to be the final season of the show and during auditions he performed Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Phantom of the Opera’. His vocal depth and his history of personal struggles with bipolar disorder made him an audience favorite.
Unfortunately, he was eliminated from the show on April 6, 2016, and finished third losing to La'Porsha Renae and Trent Harmon. His song ‘Strike A Match’ was released, capitalizing on his immense popularity on ‘American Idol’. The song charted at number 25 on ‘Alternative Digital Songs’ and at number 38 on ‘Rock Digital Songs’.
In 2016, after exiting American Idol, Dalton Rapattoni moved back to Texas. In Dalton, Texas, he started recording his solo album at the ‘Orb Recording Studios’. He started participating in live tours like the ‘School of Rock Gives Back Tour’, in which he sang alongside many ‘School of Rock’ house bands. He also held tours to thank the people who voted for him during the competition. Once these ended Rapattoni also did ‘The Inspired Attempt Tour’ in 2016.
On October 14, 2016, he released his song ‘Turn To Stone’. The soulful ballad was number 14 on the ‘iTunes Alternative Chart’ and received more than 99k views on his YouTube channel. Rapattoni continued touring and did the ‘The Acoustic Attempt Tour’ in 2017. His solo album ‘Nobodys Home’ was released on September 22, 2017,
