Dan Bongino was born Daniel John Bongino, on December 4, 1974, at the 'Flushing Hospital,' Queens, New York City, New York, U.S.A. He is of Italian–American descent and was raised a Catholic.

He graduated from the 'Archbishop Molloy High School,' Queens, New York City.

Between 1995 and 1999, Dan Bongino worked with the ‘NYPD.'

In 1999, he started working as a special agent with the 'United States Secret Service.'

Three years later, he left the 'New York Field Office' and became a trainer at the 'James J. Rowley Training Center,' the law enforcement training academy managed by the 'United States Secret Service' in Beltsville, Maryland, U.S.

In 2006, he was assigned to the 'U.S. Presidential Protection Division,' during George W. Bush's second term as the president of the United States.

He continued to offer protective duty to the next president, Barack Obama, during his first term as the president. Dan also coordinated for the president's tour to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, and Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.

One of his most challenging assignments was serving as the lead agent responsible for Obama's tour to an active war zone in Afghanistan.He served with the 'Secret Service' until May 2011. Following this, he began a career in politics and writing, simultaneously.

Dan Bongino wrote three books based on his life as a secret-service agent: 'Life Inside the Bubble: Why a Top-Ranked Secret Service Agent Walked Away from It All,' 'The Fight: A Secret Service Agent's Inside Account of Security Failings and the Political Machine,' and 'Protecting the President: An Inside Account of the Troubled Secret Service in an Era of Evolving Threats,' published in 2013, 2016, and 2017, respectively.

Inspired by the incidents related to President Donald Trump, he authored the books 'Spygate: The Attempted Sabotage of Donald J. Trump,' 'Exonerated: The Failed Takedown of President Donald Trump by the Swamp,' and 'Follow the Money: The Shocking Deep State Connections of the Anti-Trump Cabal.' The first two books were released in 2018 and 2019, respectively, and the third book is expected to be released by late 2020.

Dan Bongino was featured in three episodes of 'Secret Service,' a reality TV series, in 2012. The same year, he and his wife launched an enterprise that designed websites.

He then launched the ‘Dan Bongino Show,' a series featuring his comments on the political and current affairs of the country. He launched the program in 2017 and continues to host it. The show is webcast on 'YouTube' and streamed as a podcast on platforms such as 'SoundCloud' and 'Google Podcasts.'

He was a paid contributor to the 'National Rifle Association Television' until 2018. He has also appeared on shows such as 'Fox & Friends' and 'Tucker Carlson Tonight.' He has also been featured on radio programs of 'WMAL Radio' in Washington, D.C. and 'WBAL Radio' in Baltimore.

In December 2018, he guest-hosted the 'Fox News’ program named 'The Sean Hannity Show.'

With a view to counter the 'Drudge Report,' he started the 'Bongino Report' in December 2019. The reports and their links are available on his official website, ‘bongino.com,' and his social-media profiles on 'Facebook,' 'Twitter,' and 'Instagram.'

Political Campaigns

On April 3, 2012, Dan Bongino won the ‘Republican’ primary by gaining 33.8% of the total votes and defeating nine other candidates.

However, he contested unsuccessfully for the 'U.S. Senate' in the elections on November 6, 2012. He ranked a distant second to the incumbent, ‘Democrat’ Ben Cardin, having earned only 26.6% votes.

He had a landslide victory against Harold W. Painter, Jr. in the ‘Republican’ primary in 2014. He defeated Painter by gaining 83.5% votes, against the latter's 16.5%.

In the 2014 election, he contested from Maryland's 6th congressional district for a 'U.S. House of Representatives' seat, against incumbent Democrat John Delaney. Though Dan carried four of the district's five counties, he could not surpass a 20,500-vote difference in the district's share of Montgomery County in the outer suburbs of Washington.

He moved to Florida in 2015 and was considering running for the 'United States Senate' and Florida’s 18th congressional district in the 2016 elections. However, in June 2016, he announced that he would represent the ‘Republican Party’ from Florida's 19th congressional district. He contested the ‘Republican’ primary against Chauncey Goss and Francis Rooney. In the primary held in August 2016, he ranked third and earned only 17.39% of the total votes.
