Davine Riley recounted in her first YouTube video that she had started using TikTok for the fun of it after watching several of her friends using the app. She had joined the platform during the summer vacations in 2019, but did not start posting her own videos until August that year, right before school opened again. Initially, she was just making “weird videos” with her friends, but one day a POV video that she made as a joke went viral on the platform. The success of the video encouraged her to make more POV videos and those were also equally popular with her budding fan base. She was quickly hooked on to TikTok as she found it “cool” to achieve recognition on the platform while making videos for fun. Now, she is often hailed as the “POV queen” by her fans, even though she has expanded to include other types of contents. While most popular on TikTok, she is also active on Instagram and YouTube, and has gained over 37K and 43K followers respectively, on the social media platforms.

Davine Riley has had several interests since she was a child. Very early on, she practiced ballet for years like most other girls of her age. However, she next went through “a serious tomboy phase” during which period she had switched to karate for about a year. It was an awkward experience for her as she was the only girl in the group. For the next few years, she started cheerleading and also playing basketball at the same time. She continued to play basketball even after quitting cheerleading, but later became interested in dance. In recent times, she found interest in volleyball and tennis. She describes herself as an outgoing person amongst her friends who also gets shy in a large group of strangers. Nevertheless, she is always eager to meet with her fans and reads through most of their comments even if she doesn’t always reply. According to her, the best part of her TikTok fame is that she is able to influence so many people with her videos. She is determined to positively affect her fans the way they make her days with positive comments on her posts. She, however, believes in quality over quantity and often refrains from posting something just for the sake of it.

Davine Riley was born on January 27, 2003 in Rochester, New York, United States to a Black father and an Asian mother, both of whom she has featured several times in her videos. She also proudly declares her Black and Asian ancestry on her social media profiles. Her mother revealed in a video that she had expected to give birth to a boy and had even chosen several boy names before Davine’s birth. She has four siblings, including an older sister named Jeninah, who is seven years older than her and was introduced to her fans in a YouTube Q&A video in December 2020(3). Davine was in the third grade when she relocated to Franklin, Tennessee with her family and spent most of her forming years there. She attended Independence High School from August 2017 to May 2021, when she completed her school graduation. She is currently a student at Georgia State University and resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

In her very first YouTube video, uploaded in March 2020, Davine Riley claimed to be single but revealed that in her freshman and sophomore years, she was too eager to get a boyfriend. She mentioned eventually getting over that phase and developing a relatively high standard of how she wanted to be treated by a potential lover. She subsequently made several story-time videos throughout the year in which she opened up about past boyfriends hooking up with her BFF or with an ex. In December that year, she featured her then-boyfriend Vince in a Q&A video on her channel. She currently does not seem to be in a relationship.
