Harbouring ambitions of becoming a singer from a young age, Pooja Jain started her YouTube channel in late 2014. She rose to fame when her first song ‘Swag Wali Topi’ went viral in 2016. The song has more than 5 million views on her YouTube channel. She is seen rapping and singing in a luxury car dressed in trendy clothes and a cap that reads ‘SWAG’, alongside a posse of young men. Taking inspiration from the likes of Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez, who she considers her singing inspirations, she started recording more rap-style songs.

2017 saw the release of many songs from this young star. In January, she released ‘Daaru’ which has 9 million views. In May, she released yet another self-styled pop number ‘Selfie Maine Leli Aaj’ where she is seen posing in front of popular landmarks. The song received 7 million hits within one week. Her next number came in June titled ‘Dilon Ka Shooter’, where she was seen driving a red scooter on the streets of New Delhi. During an impromptu video shot in his car, Bollywood singer, Sonu Nigam, sang the ‘Dilon Ka Shooter’ song in another Bollywood singer, Kumar Sanu’s, style. In September, she came up with her next song ‘Baapu Dede Thoda Cash’ where she is seen spending her father’s money on a shopping spree with friends. In October, she released ‘Aafreen Fathima Bewafa Hai’, which garnered over 5 million views on her channel. She was also a wild card entrant in season 11 of the reality TV show ‘Big Boss’ in that year.

In 2018, she created a short film ‘Chappan Thappad’ and a song for the ‘MTV Box Cricket League’ titled ‘The BCL Song’. In January 2019, she released the song ‘Nache Jab Kudi Dilli Di’ which got over 600,000 views. In April 2019, she released ‘Khatam Ho Gaya Atta’ and ‘Vikas Pooch Raha Hai’ which got over 200,000 and 59,000 views respectively.

She has often been called the Indian version of Pakistani Internet singing sensation, Taher Shah. She was featured in an episode of BBC Radio’s show ‘Asian Network’ titled ‘Dhinchak Pooja and Nakash Aziz’. She has also made guest appearances on television shows like ‘Fun Ki Baat’ and ‘Entertainment Ki Raat’.

Though her songs mostly lack tune and tempo, she considers herself to have much musical talent and practices singing every day. She continues to belt out cringe pop numbers and enjoy fame as a social media star.

In June 2017, a Twitter user complained to the Delhi police about Dhinchak Pooja riding a scooter without a helmet on the roads of New Delhi during the shooting of her song ‘Dilon Ka Shooter’. The local police promptly acted on the complaint and filed a case against her for violating traffic rules.

Though her songs have been widely criticized, in July 2017, they were suddenly deleted from her YouTube channel citing privacy and copyright violation issues. Some say that this was due to a copyright notice submitted to YouTube by another user ‘Kathappa Singh’ and others say that it was a publicity stunt to gain more followers and media attention. The deleted videos have since been re-uploaded and easily available on her channel.

Dhinchak Pooja’s real name is Pooja Jain. She was born on December 16, 1993, in Uttar Pradesh, India. She is very protective about her family and haS not revealed their identity. But she has admitted that her father finances her music career, so she probably belongs to an affluent family. She was a student at ‘Model School’ in Rohtak and attended the ‘Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University’ in New Delhi. Not much is known about her love life or relationships either.

Through the wealth generated from her fame, endorsements and sponsorships, she leads a very lavish lifestyle. She also loves to travel and hopes to become a Bollywood actress in the future. She currently lives in New Delhi, India.
