Dominic Cooper is an English actor who gained international fame with his portrayal of the comic book character young Howard Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain America: The First Avenger. He has also appeared in many other Marvel productions. Confused about his future as a teenager, he joined drama school on a whim and soon realized that acting was his calling in life. After completing his training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), he embarked on his acting career, first making a foray into the TV industry. After appearing in a few TV roles, he also began getting film offers. Unlike many other actors who first start on the stage and then move to the screen, he first worked in TV and film before making his stage debut! He was able to replicate his success in theater as well and acted in several memorable stage productions, including the Royal National Theater's adaptation of the His Dark Materials trilogy, in which he played the lead role. Dominic Edward Cooper was born on 2 June 1978, in Greenwich, London, England. His mother, Julie (née Heron), was a nursery school teacher, and his father, Brian Cooper, was an auctioneer. The film enthusiast E. T. Heron was his maternal great-grandfather.
He has two brothers, Simon and Nathan. He also had one sister who died before he was born. His parents divorced when he was five. He has one half-brother and one half-sister from his father’s side.
He went to John Ball Primary School in Blackheath, London, for a few years before enrolling at Thomas Tallis School in nearby Kidbrooke. As a school student, he was very confused about his future. His girlfriend at the time suggested that he join drama school.
