Elizabeth Dean Lail was born on March 25, 1992, in Williamson County, Texas, USA, to Kay Lurene Surratt and Dean Franklin Lail. She was raised in Asheboro, North Carolina along with her older sister Kathryn Dean Lail.

Elizabeth Lail developed a passion for acting at a young age. She decided to pursue acting as her career after taking part in a play titled ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ at a community theater.

She attended ‘Asheboro High School’ from where she graduated in 2010. She then went to the ‘University of North Carolina School of the Arts’ where she studied acting. She was part of students’ film productions, such as ‘Model Airplane’ before graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in May 2014.

After graduating from university, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in theatre. She then started working as a babysitter during the day to support herself. Though she initially wanted to establish a career in theatre, she changed her mind after auditioning for a role in ‘Once Upon a Time’.

Just six months after graduating from college, Elizabeth Lail landed the role of Anna in the fourth season of ‘Once Upon a Time.’ She played Princess Anna in 10 episodes of the series. Her performance in the series increased her popularity and Lail became a household name in the United States.

In 2016, she landed the starring role of Amy Hughes in the popular supernatural horror television series ‘Dead of Summer’. She played the role of camp counselor Amy in 10 episodes of the series which was aired on ‘Freeform’ TV channel from June 28 to August 30, 2016.
