Emmeline Bale Biography

Christian Bale and Sandra, better known as "Sibi," met through Christian’s actor-producer friend Winona Ryder. Sandra was Winona’s personal assistant back then. Christian and Sandra were not in love initially. Christian grew up in a dysfunctional family. He has been in a rocky relationship with his mother. Hence, marriage was never on Christian’s list. However, it all changed after he began interacting with Sandra and eventually fell in love with her. In 2000, the two reportedly eloped to Las Vegas. They finally got married on January 29, 2000.

Christian and Sandra welcomed their first bundle of joy, their daughter Emmeline, on March 27, 2005. Emmeline has a brother named Joseph, born in 2014. Even though she is American-born, Emmeline’s father is not. Christian was born in Wales, to English parents. Sandra is American-born but of Serbian descent. By the age of 4, Emmeline had begun training in swimming.

Emmeline’s paternal grandfather, the late David Bale, was a businessman, a talent manager, and a commercial pilot. He was also a supporter of animal rights and a member of 'The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund' and 'The Ark Trust.' Her paternal grandmother, Jenny, performed as a clown and a dancer at a circus in London. She currently works as a receptionist at a doctor’s office.

Christian has always been open about his wife and also about his tumultuous relationship with his mother. However, he does not divulge much about his children to the media. Nevertheless, it is extremely difficult for celebrities to keep their children away from media scrutiny. In an interview with 'The Insider,' the actor talked about Emmeline’s childhood. Christian did not reveal his daughter’s name to the media for a long time. He revealed that Emmeline had been visiting his shoots since the age of 4. She was reportedly present on the sets of 'Terminator Salvation.' Christian added that he had always encouraged his children to visit his shoots because he believes children can learn a lot from the environment on the sets. Christian revealed that Emmeline had learned to dress up on the sets. She would often dress up as characters such as ‘Darth Vader’ and ‘Yoda.’ He labels Emmeline as a daredevil. She never dreaded the scary elaborate costumes and realistic makeup transformations that usually scare children of her age. Emmeline would also play with 'Terminator' models.

British newspaper 'Daily Mail' once featured Christian and Emmeline in an article, reporting how the actor was having fun in a park in Boston, training his daughter to balance and negotiate on a steel frame. He was shooting for 'American Hustle' back then but managed to take some time out for Emmeline. However, he tried hard to keep himself and Emmeline hidden from the paparazzi. The media still ended up capturing a few moments of the father–daughter duo. Christian and Emmeline high-fived after Emmeline successfully balanced on the frame.

In 2019, Christian mentioned Emmeline and Joseph in his 'Golden Globe' acceptance speech. He had received the award for his brilliant portrayal of former US vice president Dick Cheney in the biopic 'Vice.' He referred to his children as “Banana” and “Burrito.”
