Eric Winter is an American actor, author, and a former fashion model, best known for playing key roles on TV series such as ‘The Mentalist’ and ‘Witches of East End.’ Eric was born in La Mirada, California and grew up in La Puente. Following his high school, he decided to pursue psychology. During his college, he began modelling and that was when his focus began to shift toward acting. He enrolled in acting classes and began auditioning for roles in films and television. He made his television debut in 1999 in a guest role as ‘Todd’ on the series ‘Profiler.’ He had his big breakthrough in 2002, when appeared in a supporting role as ‘Rex Brady’ on the soap opera ‘Days of Our Lives.’ He appeared in supporting roles on series’ such as ‘The Mentalist,’ ‘Wildfire,’ and ‘Brothers and Sisters.’ He is known his lead role on the series ‘Witches of East End.’ Besides television, he has also appeared in a couple of films, such as ‘Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay’ and ‘The Ugly Truth.’

Childhood & Early Life
Eric Winter was born Eric Barrett Winter, on July 17, 1976, in La Mirada, California, to Gwen and Wayne Winter. Soon after his birth, the family moved to La Puente, California, where Eric spent rest of his growing up years.
During his early childhood, Eric did not show any inclination toward acting. He was, in fact, looking ahead to become a doctor. Following his high school graduation, he enrolled at ‘The University of California, Los Angeles,’ and pursued a degree in psychology.
During his college days, he was looking for some part-time work to earn some additional pocket money. His friends suggested him to try modelling, which he did. With time, he started showing more inclination toward the show business and his earlier goal of becoming a doctor took a backseat. He enrolled in acting classes and began honing his acting skills. Thereafter, he began auditioning for roles in films and television. He made his acting debut in 1999.

Career
Before he ventured into acting, Eric worked as a male model and was associated with some high profile modelling campaigns, including Tommy Hilfiger. He also appeared in a television commercial for Curious, a Britney Spears brand; he appeared alongside Britney in the commercial.
He earned his first television role in 1999, when he appeared in a guest role as ‘Todd’ on a single episode of the crime drama series ‘Profiler.’ In the same year, he appeared in guest roles on series such as ‘The Parkers’ and ‘Undressed.’
Following a three-year break, in 2002, he appeared on TV series such as ‘The Andy Dick Show’ and ‘Charmed.’ He got the first big breakthrough role of his career when he was signed to play a supporting role on the long-running soap opera ‘Days of Our Lives.’ He played ‘Rex Brady’ on the show and reprised his role in many episodes, between 2002 and 2005.
His stint as ‘Rex’ got him supporting roles in television films, such as ‘Back When We Were Grownups’ and ‘The Magic of Ordinary Days.’
In the mid-2000s, he appeared in guest roles on many television series, such as ‘South Beach,’ ‘Pepper Dennis,’ ‘Just Legal’ and ‘Love, Inc.’
In 2007, he got an important role on the musical comedy drama series ‘Viva Laughlin,’ which was a remake of a successful British series. The series, however, received bad ratings and got cancelled after 2 episodes.
In 2008, Eric made his feature film debut in a supporting role as ‘Colton Graham’ in the stoner film ‘Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay.’ The film received good reviews and proved successful at the box office, earning three times more than its production budget.
Meanwhile, Eric continued playing supporting roles on 5 episodes each of ‘Wildfire’ and ‘Brothers & Sisters.’ He also played one of the main roles in the pilot episode of the series ‘Single with Parents.’ The pilot was, however, rejected and the series never saw light of the day.
In the subsequent years, Eric appeared in supporting roles on series such as ‘Moonlight’ and ‘The Mentalist,’ in addition to playing guest roles on the series ‘The Ex List.’

In 2011, Eric was selected to play a lead role on yet another television pilot ‘Weekends at Bellevue.’ He played ‘Jared Knox’ in the pilot episode, which was never aired. In the very next year, another pilot ‘Scent of the Missing,’ too, was rejected.
He appeared in guest roles on the series ‘CSI: Miami.’ In 2012, he appeared in five episodes of the comedy drama series ‘GCB.’
In 2013, Eric appeared in one of the main roles in the series ‘Witches of East End.’ The series ran for 2 seasons and 23 episode and Eric reprised his role in all 23 episodes.
Eric has also appeared in supporting roles on series such as ‘Rosewood’ and ‘Secrets and Lies.’ He also played a major role in the pilot episode of the series ‘Las Reinas,’ which was rejected.
