In the following year, he appeared in the police procedural series 'CSI: Miami' and the Disney Channel Original Movie 'Halloweentown High'. He regularly appeared on stage while training in performing arts at ‘The Juilliard School’. Following his graduation, he portrayed Romeo in the Shakespeare Theatre Company's production of 'Romeo and Juliet' and Eugene Marchbanks in 'Candida' at the Berkshire Theatre Festival (2008).
In 2009, Wittrock returned to television as a regular cast member for the soap opera 'All My Children', in which he played Damon Miller until 2011. During this time, he appeared in Off-Broadway productions of 'The Age of Iron' and 'The Illusion'. His performance in the latter earned him a ticket to Broadway, and he went on to star in the revival of Arthur Miller's 'Death of a Salesman' by Mike Nichols in 2012. He won multiple awards for his portrayal of Harold "Happy" Loman in this play. Meanwhile, he continued to appear on several television shows and had a recurring role on the period drama series 'Masters of Sex'.
