Gavin Leatherwood’s evolution as an actor started at a very early age. He was interested in acting and made his official on-stage debut with Arthur Miller’s ‘All My Sons’ at the age of six. He then went on tour across the USA performing in ‘Peter Pan’ in 2005. He also started auditioning for roles, but found it hard to land anything major. When he was eighteen, his family moved to Oregon. It was around this time that Gavin Leatherwood found himself struggling to have a clear vision about his future. He was working at ‘Urban Outfitters’ and not getting many acting opportunities. So he decided to move to New York for seven months. He failed to land any acting gigs but had a chance meeting with an actor, who had been booked on a TV show. This gave him the stimulus he needed to start auditioning for TV shows.

He was, however forced to return to Oregon to save some money. But once he had enough, he moved to Los Angeles. It was a very harrowing time for the budding actor. He was sharing a three bedroom apartment with five other people, traveling to auditions, and doing odd jobs to make ends meet. However, his resilience and hard work paid off. He landed his first TV role in the popular crime drama ‘NCIS’ in 2017. Gavin Leatherwood made his on-screen TV debut in the episode ‘Pandora’s Box, Part 1’ playing Dezic’s son. This opened the door to more opportunities. He next appeared in the short ‘John John Goes Viral’ and also made his TV-movie debut in ‘Beverly Grove’ (2017).

In 2018, he was first seen in an episode of ‘Time Being’. Then he made a critically acclaimed appearance as Pete in the episode ‘Un-Break My Heart’ of the sitcom ‘Grown-ish’ (2018). He also played the recurring role of Byrce in the series ‘My Dead Ex’. He then made his official movie debut in the indie film ‘#WhenTodayEnds’ (2018).

2018 turned out to be a breakthrough year for the upcoming actor. He went to audition for the role of Harvey Kinkle in Netflix’s reboot of the ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ (2018 – present). But Gavin Leatherwood decided to read for the part of Nicholas Scratch as the role’s darkness appealed to him. The audition was a resounding success. He started appearing as a recurring character in season one before being upgraded to season regular in season 2. He also portrayed Nick in the short ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Pt 2 - Under Kiernan Shipka's Spell’ (2019).

Gavin Leatherwood’s turn as the warlock Nick Scratch in the ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ turned him into an overnight sensation. In 2019, he appeared in the short ‘Washington and Vine’ before landing the recurring role of Jason in the series ‘Wicked Enigma’. He is also playing Matt in the short film ‘When We Were Young’. The extent of his fame is clearly visible on his social media accounts. He went from having 1100 followers on his Instagram to more than 1.8 million in a few months.
