Gibi created her YouTube channel on June 18, 2016, under the username Gibi ASMR. She posted the first video, titled ‘ASMR - First Aid on a Friend (Taking Care of You!) ~Soft Spoken~’, on June 26. In time, she has become one of the most prominent ASMRtists on YouTube. These days, each of her videos receives from hundreds of thousands to several million views. Some of the most popular videos on her channel are ‘[ASMR] Dark & Relaxing Tapping & Scratching [Close Whispers]’, ‘ASMR Sleep & Relaxation Treatment’, ‘[ASMR] Sleep Clinic Roleplay - Trigger Test (Whispered)’, ‘The Cranial Nerve Exam – ASMR’, and ‘[ASMR] Intense Ear Attention & Mouth Sounds (Tktktk, Clicking, Shooooop)’.

According to Austrian writer Clemens J. Setz, the concept of ASMR or autonomous sensory meridian response has been around since the 1920s. English author Virginia Woolf wrote about something similar in her 1925 novel ‘Mrs. Dalloway’. ASMR gained contemporary prevalence in late 2007, following a health-related post on a discussion forum that described the phenomenon. In response, several people said that they had experienced similar sensations. Videos are considered to be the most popular source of stimuli for ASMR. As a result, YouTube has inevitably become the primary platform for ASMR-related content.

Besides being one of the most known ASMR content creators on YouTube, she is also one of the most vocal ones. Her video, ‘What the H*ck is ASMR’, was referred to as a perfect introduction to ASMR by Den of Geek. She has been cited in articles published in several news outlets, including ‘Bustle,’ Vulture.com, the ‘Houston Press,’ and the ‘Los Angeles Times.’ In 2018, in an interview with Vice, she spoke about the non-sexual nature of ASMR.

Gibi posts a variety of ASMR-themed content, including ASMR cosplay, Soft-spoken ASMR, whispering ASMR, and deep-ear attention. However, her ASMR roleplay videos are the most popular type of content on her channel. She regularly roleplays as a nurse, flight attendant, and big sister. She has also portrayed a librarian, wine merchant, and hotel receptionist in her videos.

As an avid cosplayer, Gibi has introduced that part of her life into her content as well. She often makes videos dressed up as various characters from films, TV shows, video games, and anime. Some of her oft-used original characters are Daisy, a pale-skinned, light-blue haired woman who has a New Yorker accent and dresses in a floral suit jacket and a white undershirt; Lorelei Mermaid, a mermaid who has pink and purple hair, deep ocean blue eyes, and half-pink half-red lips; and Mistletoe "Missy" The Elf, who, despite living in the North Pole, does not work for the Santa Claus.

Gibi hosts an ASMR series called ‘Cooking with Gibi’, which is sponsored by Blue Apron. She is the ASMRtist who first made use of "name trigger", a now-famous trigger where peoples’ names are mentioned repeatedly to generate a response.

On her second channel, she posts videos on games like ‘Overwatch’, ‘The Sims 4’, ‘Life is Strange’, ‘Dream Daddy’, ‘Neopets’, ‘Old School Runescape’, ‘Overcooked’, and ‘Pokemonz’. On Twitch, she live-streams thrice a week. After each streaming, she posts the videos on her YouTube channel, so they would be available for those were unable to watch them live.

Family & Personal Life

Gibi was born on December 19, 1994, in New York, the United States. She grew up along with her older brother. Little else is known about her early life and upbringing. After completing high school, she enrolled at Northwestern University, Illinois, from where she earned her degree in communications in 2017.

In her videos, Gibi has spoken about her issues with sleep and anxiety, claiming that ASMR has helped her with them. This has led many of her fans to believe that she had been battling insomnia and/or anxiety since her childhood. After spending several years as a fan of ASMR-related content, she made the decision of setting up her own channel in 2016.

Gibi is married to a guy named Ben, who also studied at Northwestern. He takes care of her business affairs. The couple resides in the rural Midwest. In July 2024, she announced that she was expecting a child.
