Grapeapplesauce joined YouTube on July 6, 2011, and started uploading the series 'Minecraft Hardcore Survival' on August 28, 2012. The other game he initially played was the first-person survival horror video game 'Slender: The Eight Pages'. By his 18th birthday, he had already gathered 1100 subscribers, whom he thanked in a vlog. He started to get regular subscribers in 2013.

He also used to sell satellite dish subscriptions at Dish TV, but because his tight schedule at work prevented him from uploading videos on his channel regularly, he decided to quit his job and become a full-time YouTuber, which he announced on January 19, 2015. By the end of the year, he had reached 300k subscribers. His subscribers repeatedly asked him for a room tour and setup video, which he eventually did on January 2, 2016. Ever since he is living the dream of paying his bills by playing video games and has gained over 1.3 million subscribers on YouTube. He has also launched a 'Grapeapplesauce' themed line of merchandise including clothing items. He also has 2 more channels named ‘Grapeappleblox’ and ‘Grapey’ where he posts gaming content related to games such as Pokemon, Roblox, and of course, Minecraft.

Grapeapplesauce previously played on Hive and then moved to the Minecraft Survival Games server, but later switched back to Hive due to the rising amount of hackers and the MCSG disguise bug. He has been playing Cube Ultra Hardcore (or Cube UHC, previously Minecraft: Ultra Hardcore) since season two and has won three seasons. He has only missed season one, however, he was invited to compete in that season, but he missed out because he overslept.

An exceptional PvP player, he has the record for most kills with 47 kills, but he also had the most unfortunate and glitchy deaths. He is one of three UHC members to have two consecutive season wins, and one of four members to have the most season wins at three (four, if YouTuber UHC wins are counted). He is recognized as the Cube member playing Survival Games for the longest time, starting in late 2012. He also participated in United UHC season 1, in which he finished sixth.

Grapeapplesauce, real name Sean, was born on December 8, 1994, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, but grew up in Alaska. He played cello for 8 years, including his high school days, and was the first chair cellist in his state. His father has made appearances in some of his recent videos, introducing himself as 'Grapeapplepops', and played Minecraft with him. He also enjoys longboarding and photography. He has two pet cats.

Grapeapplesauce was in a long-distance relationship with a girl named Danielle (who went by the handle 'BustyUnicorns' on Twitter), whom he met over the internet. He made the news of their dating public in a tweet thanking his family, friends, fans, and his girlfriend, posted on 27 November 2014. Since then, the two have publicly expressed their love on Twitter a number of times. They were also congratulated by friends and fans on their anniversary in March 2015. However, that same month fans started noticing that they are avoiding talking about each other on Twitter, which sparked rumors of their split.

While answering fan questions, she later confirmed that they split up because he wanted different things. She later discontinued the alias 'BustyUnicorns' to avoid hate comments and became known by the alias 'LilBub'. According to Danielle, Grapeapplesauce previously dated Australian YouTube gamer and fellow Cube member, Bee ('HeyImBee'), briefly, but she reportedly left him for 'Bayani', another Minecraft-based YouTuber.
