Career
Before joining ‘Kara,’ Seungyeon had already appeared as a child artist in films and TV series, such as ‘Dead Ends’ (1993), ‘Summer Showers’ (1995), and ‘Star in My Heart’ (1997).
She began her singing career as the lead vocalist of ‘Kara’ in 2007. The girl group comprised of four members.
On March 29, 2007, ‘Kara’ was featured on ‘M Countdown’ with Seungyeon as its main vocalist. Seungyeon then hosted ‘MSL Break’ in 2007, which earned her the opportunity to become a VJ.
In June 2008, she was asked to co-host ‘Boys & Girls Music Countdown’ along with Kim Hye-sung, and later with Kim Soo-hyun. In the same year, she became a part of MBC reality show, ‘I Need a Family: Season 2,’ in which celebrities live together like a family.
On November 21, 2008, she debuted as a pop correspondent for an entertainment news show called ‘Section TV.’ The show was aired on MBC.
In 2009, she released her first solo single, ‘Miracle.’ She was also featured in ‘Come to Play,’ a single released by rapper Nassun. She also contributed to the soundtrack of the film ‘Why Did You Come to My House?’
In October 2009, she joined ‘Dream Team Girl Group’ for a campaign organized by Samsung. The group released a digital single titled ‘Tomorrow’ on October 6. The music video of ‘Tomorrow,’ featuring Lee Dong-gun, was made available on October 12.
In 2010, Seungyeon contributed to the soundtrack of ‘Mary Stayed Out All Night’ by recording a song titled ‘Super Star.’ She then made a cameo appearance in MBC’s ‘More Charming By The Day.’
She also made a guest appearance in the music video of the song, ‘Round and Round,’ featuring Nicole Jung and Park Gyu-ri. The song was a part of the album, ‘MBC Music Travel Lalala Live Vol.11.’

In 2011, she recorded and released another song called ‘Because of Love’ for SBS’s series, ‘Warrior Baek Dong-soo.’ She also appeared in a show called ‘URAKARA’ which was aired on TV Tokyo.
She then performed her songs ‘Guilty’ and ‘Because of Love’ during a music tour of ‘Kara’ in South Korea.
In 2012, she made another cameo appearance in SBS ‘Salamander Guru and The Shadows.’ In September 2012, she released the Japanese version of ‘Guilty.’
‘Guilty’ was also released in Korea as a part of Kara’s compilation album, ‘Kara Solo Collection.’ The album was released on December 4, 2012, in South Korea. On December 15, 2012, she performed ‘Guilty’ on MBC’s show ‘Music Core.’
In 2013, she appeared in another drama titled ‘Pure Love’ following which she played a supporting role in the period drama, ‘Jang Ok-jung, Living by Love.’
In the same year, she appeared on the big screen as Mary Katherine in ‘Epic.’ She also appeared as herself in ‘Kara The Animation.’ In 2014, she recorded songs like ‘Should I Love Alone,’ ‘Hello,’ ‘Du Salam’ and ‘Can Be Heard From The Stars.’
She was also featured alongside various artists in a single titled ‘Talk About Love.’ She then made a guest appearance in a song named ‘First Love’ for the album, ‘DSP Special Album White Letter.’
She went on to appear in a handful of TV shows, such as ‘Her Lovely Heels,’ ‘Jang Bo-ri is Here,’ ‘Secret Love’ and ‘Guitar and Hot Pants.’
In 2015, she recorded another single titled ‘From Now,’ along with Lee Sang Gon.

In January 2016, ‘Kara’ was disbanded as the members of the band decided not to renew their respective contracts. However, it was later announced that the band will be releasing a new album.
Seungyeon released her extended play ‘Uchuu’ in Japan. She also recorded a couple of singles, namely, ‘U & I’ and ‘Do You Remember?’ She then starred in the TV series ‘Age of Youth,’ aired on JTBC.
In 2017, she starred in JTBC’s ‘Last Minute Romance.’ She also starred in ‘Age of Youth 2’ for the same network.
