Hasan Minhaj is an American actor as well as a comedian who currently serves as a Senior Correspondent for ‘The Daily Show’. He was a series regular on the sitcom ‘State of Georgia’ and has also starred in MTV’s ‘Disaster Date’. Running his self-owned channel on YouTube, Minhaj has also done guest roles for the shows ‘Getting On’ and ‘Arrested Development’. He hosted the web series titled ‘The Truth with Hasan Minhaj’ and the documentary ‘Stand Up Planet’. The American star has also worked as a voice actor. He has voiced the character of Rabi Ray Rana for the video game series ‘Far Cry 4’. Minhaj’s first stand-up comedy show ‘Homecoming King’ also comes under the list of contributions the actor has made to the industry. Talking about his achievements and honours, Minhaj was chosen as a featured speaker for the 2017 White House Correspondents' Dinner. Career
After watching Chris Rock's stand-up special ‘Never Scared,’ Minhaj began performing comedy himself. In 2008, he won a ‘Best Comic Standing’ competition, as a result of which he was offered the chance to work for Gabriel Iglesias, Pablo Francisco, and Katt Williams. After this, he performed on NBC’s ‘Stand-up for Diversity’ and became one of the finalists of the show.
In 2011, Minhaj was cast in the sitcom ‘State of Georgia.’ He also got the opportunity to play various roles on MTV’s ‘Disaster Date.’ Soon after, he started posting videos on YouTube through which he landed the show ‘Failosophy’ on MTV. In the year 2013, the American actor and comedian starred in shows like ‘Getting On’ and ‘Arrested Development.’ The same year, he hosted the documentary ‘Stand Up Planet.’ The following year, he hosted his web series ‘The Truth with Hasan Minhaj’ and also voiced ‘Rabi Ray Rana’ for the video game ‘Far Cry 4.’ In addition, Hasan Minhaj also joined the team of ‘The Daily Show.’
In October 2015, his show ‘Homecoming King’ premiered Off-Broadway. On June 18, 2016, he hosted the ‘Radio and Television Correspondents Dinner.’ In April 2017, Minhaj was selected as a featured speaker for the 2017 White House Correspondents' Dinner. There, he took a dig at the Washington, D.C. society, American politics, media, current events, Washington press corps, the president, and so on. He even criticized Donald Trump for boycotting the dinner!
In 2017, he turned his one man show ‘Homecoming King’ into his first stand up special for Netflix. Titled ‘Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King,’ the show won him his first ‘Peabody Award.’
The following year, his web comedy talk show ‘Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj’ premiered on Netflix for which he won a ‘Peabody Award.’ He was a featured artist amongst Fahim Anwar and Asif Ali on the Comedy Central special ‘Goatface’ in 2018.

Hasan Minhaj was born on September 23, 1985, in Davis, California, USA, to Muslim parents Najme and Seema. His Indian-born parents had immigrated to Davis, California where he was raised. He remained in the USA with his father, while his mother moved back to India for eight years to complete her education. She visited the USA in between and gave birth to Hasan’s sister Ayesha Minhaj in 1989. Minhaj studied at the ‘University of California’ and majored in political science. He married a Hindu woman named Beena Patel in January 2015. The couple has a daughter, born in April 2018.
