Henry Levy Biography

(American Fashion Designer)

Birthday: July 14, 1991 (Cancer)

Born In: Atlanta, Georgia

Henry Levy is an American avant-garde fashion designer who is the founder of the Los Angeles and Paris based luxury fashion brand Enfants Riches Déprimés. He has recently gained media attention as the latest boyfriend of American singer, songwriter and actress Demi Lovato. His brand, which translates to 'Depressed Rich Kids', is an "elitist, nihilist couture" which, instead of catering to the masses, aims at creating high-priced limited edition clothes with controversial words and imagery that would appeal to only a selected few. Nevertheless, he has garnered a cult-like following among renowned celebrities, including Jared Leto, Kanye West, Beyoncé, Courtney Love, Frances Bean Cobain, Justin Bieber, Zayn Malik, and the band Guns N' Roses. According to Levy, his brand's themes, despite their apparent "glorification" of what he knows, exemplify a strong "revolt against aristocratic social and political norms."

Rise to Stardom
Henry Levy, who spent months in various rehabs during his teenage years, got the idea of his fashion brand when he "was sleeping in a bunk bed with a bunch of 50-year-old meth addicts trying to recover." He was also influenced by other rich kids in those rehabs who never had to "work a day in their lives". Levy, who had angst pent up against his parents for sending him to boarding schools, against principals for kicking him out of schools, and against rehabs for dictating what he should do, was able to relate to the deliberately offensive lyrics of punk music, which he had discovered at the age of 11.
After being mentored by prominent artists like Rodney McMillian, Barbara Kruger, and Andrea Fraser at an ULCA art program, he decided to establish the French punk street-wear line Enfants Riches Déprimés in 2012, drawing influences from a number of past artists and historical sources, Japanese fashion designers, and punk rockers. He intentionally made his products extremely pricey so that it "eliminates the masses", and also resorted to provocative and controversial ideas to "eliminate the people who I don’t want". It seems that he has been successful in creating an exclusive fashion brand as many leading Hollywood celebrities have been spotted donning his products. However, his recent fame is due to his involvement with actress and recovering drug addict Demi Lovato.

Controversies & Scandals
Apart from ridiculously high prices and dark, offensive themes, Henry Levy and his fashion brand have been involved in many other controversies over the years. Levy, who heavily relies on concepts of deconstruction, has time and again used the Nazi insignia and has shown cartoon characters in obscene pornographic images. He has sold controversial accessories like narcotic spoons and a $7,000 cashmere noose. In a Facebook post, he once wrote, "If I wasn't Jewish I would kill myself. Because I wouldn't be rich." In 2016, he had got into an Instagram fight with the punk band Black Anvil, during which he showered the band with offensive comments.
Family & Personal Life
Henri Alexander Levy was born on July 14, 1991 in Atlanta, Georgia. His Jewish parents had amassed immense wealth thanks to their successful water filtration business, which entitled him to a rich bourgeoisie upbringing. He attended a number of exclusive boarding schools, including Institut Le Rosey in Rolle, Switzerland, which is known as the most expensive boarding school in the world. He later went to Leysin American School, but had succumbed to drug addiction while still in high school. At the age of 15, he was sent to rehab for the first time at Visions Adolescent Treatment in Malibu. He later spent more time at other rehabs like Cirque Lodge in Utah and Promises in Malibu, and had positive results at a Betty Ford treatment center in Hazelden, Oregon. He was later accepted into an art program at University of California, Los Angeles, but dropped out before graduation.
Relationship with Demi Lovato
Henry Levy was first spotted holding hands with 'Sober' singer Demi Lovato on November 3rd, 2018, as she left a rehab after 90 days following her drug overdose back in July 2018. They seemed close as they enjoyed dinner at a posh Beverly Hills sushi restaurant, which made fans worried that he could be a negative influence for her at such a point. They were spotted several more times in the following days, including once at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, following which 'TMZ' reported that they had met at a rehab years earlier and were helping each other stay sober. The couple avoided public attention for the rest of the month amidst reports that her mother had demanded that she stayed away from him. However, they were again spotted together during an intimate dinner date in early December 2018, and later that month, they made their relationship Instagram-official by sharing a video of them locking lips on social media.
