The Rise To Stardom

Inspired by her childhood love for African dancing, Holly enrolled her daughter in Abby Lee’s Dance Studio to encourage her to hone her natural talent. She herself took dance lessons from Vicki Sheer, owner of ‘Vicki Talent’, in New York City to prepare herself for ‘Dance Moms’. The effort paid as she made it big on the show with her daughter, Nia, who is an established contemporary acro/jazz dancer and singer.

Though she gained a reputation of maintaining her calm with the other moms on the show and was referred to as ‘The Rational One’, she had numerous arguments with Abby Lee, the owner of Abby Lee Dance Company as she felt her daughter was not treated correctly.

Besides ‘Dance Moms’, she also appeared in ‘Dance Moms: Most Outrageous Moments’ (2011) and Todrick Hall’s ‘Freaks Like Me’ (2014). She has also made her debut as an author with her book ‘Moments of Clarity’ in which she shares some of the lessons she has learnt during her lifetime.

As of April, 2017, she has a net worth of $ 1 million and a large following on social media, mainly from her posts about her daughter.

Reality show and social media aside, Holly is a passionate scholar and advocate for education of the youth. With a doctorate in education, Dr Holly has plans to continue her career as an educational consultant and motivational speaker. In her own words, she feels that it is important for her to raise the awareness of youth about the world around them from a global perspective, while helping them to shape their own personal code of ethics.

She hopes to use her celebrity platform in a positive and impactful manner to give back to society. She wishes to give a voice to the issues of balance in education, motherhood and the workplace in the life of women.

She has received recognition by being awarded the EE Ford / NAIS Fellowship for Aspiring Heads of School and has also been listed in the Who’s Who among America’s Teachers. She has toured Asia through the Japan Fulbright Fund Teachers Program and has visited various schools and cultural centres abroad to exchange views on educational perspective and philosophy.

Behind The Curtains

Holly Frazier was born on May 11, 1970 in Pennsylvania, USA. Her parents are originally from Bronx, New York.

As a child she loved reading and was a bit of an introvert. She studied African Music and Dance while she was doing her undergraduate degree and participated with a dance group that performed African dances. This helped her open up and get out of her inhibitions.

She did her Bachelor’s degree in History and American Studies from Williams College and Master’s degree of Public Management in Education Leadership from H John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management, Carnegie Mellon University.

Holly had a thirst for knowledge and went on to complete her Doctorate in Education from the University of Pennsylvania while she was participating in ‘Dance Moms’ and came to be addressed as Dr Holly on the show.

She got married to Evan Frazier on August 12, 1995 from whom she has two sons, William and Evan Junior, and one daughter, Nia.

She has been an educationist for over 20 years and has vast professional experience including teaching and administrative leadership in junior, middle and high school level.

She started as a history teacher and went on to teach advanced subjects such as leadership, multiculturalism and Asian studies at The Elis School and Winchester Thurston in Pittsburgh.

She has even been the principal of a junior and middle school.

As of today, Holly Frazier remains to be active in the Pittsburgh community and serves on the board of The Children’s Institute and YWCA of the city.

She also plays an active role in other charitable institutions in Pittsburgh and is a well known social figure.
