Homer James Jigme Gere was born on 6 February 2000, in New York City, United States of America. His parents named him after their respective fathers. Homer started hogging the limelight quite early as both his parents were an established name in the field of entertainment. While his father’s popularity had reached far and wide at the time of his birth, his mother was well-known for her modeling and acting career. Homer’s parents decided to part ways in September 2013 and spent the next three years trying to finalize their divorce settlement in the ‘Supreme Court of the State of New York.’ During the highly contested divorce proceedings, Homer was thrust into the limelight as there was a dispute over custodial parent rights. His mother, Carey Lowell, wanted to live with her son in Gere’s $4.5 million property in Bedford, Westchester County, New York, from where she refused to move out. When his parents’ divorce case was finally settled in October 2016, Homer went on to live with his mother. Though he was only 16 at the time of his parents’ divorce, he handled the situation well and chose to support his parents’ decision. He also continued communicating with his father, Richard Gere, and made several public appearances with him.

In February 2019, Homer welcomed his half-brother when Richard Gere’s wife, Alejandra Silva, gave birth to a baby boy named Alexander in New York. Homer had another half-brother in April 2020, when Alejandra Silva and Richard Gere had their second son. Alejandra Silva also has a son named Albert from her previous marriage with Govind Friedland. Unlike his father, Homer likes to maintain a low profile. He currently lives in New York.
