Ivan Cornejo Bio

Ivan Cornejo is from Riverside, California. Though of Mexican–American descent, he did not listen to Mexican music till much later in life.

He apparently taught himself guitar at 8 by watching YouTube tutorials and started writing songs at 13. The Ritchie Valens track La Bamba was the first track he learned to play. He was apparently heartbroken by a failed relationship in middle school, which eventually inspired his dark lyrics later on.

Ivan Cornejo peaked at the second spot on the US Billboard Regional Mexican Albums chart with his debut album, Alma Vacía. The same album got him the seventh spot on the Top Latin Albums chart. After winning several accolades, he was also honored by The New York Times, when they named Alma Vacía as one of 2021’s best albums.

In September 2021, his track Está Dañada went viral on TikTok. It reached the 61st spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and thus became the second regional Mexican song to make it to the chart

In 2022, Ivan’s second album, Dañado, debuted and peaked at the top spot on the Regional Mexican Albums chart. It also made it to the fourth spot on the Top Latin Albums chart.

In June 2023, he launched another single, Aquí Te Espero, which peaked at the 89th spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He is represented by WME agency.

Ivan once agreed that TikTok, where he launched his account in March 2020, has helped him reach new heights in his music career. In fact, his viral track Está Dañada was apparently used by over a million users as a soundtrack for their clips on the platform.

Over the years, he has gained millions of likes and followers on his TikTok account, ivancornejooo. He has featured Mia Khalifa and rapper Bad Bunny in his clips.

He is equally popular on Instagram, as ivancornejooo. He launched his YouTube channel on August 31, 2020.

It is now known if Ivan is dating someone. He grew up with an older sister and a brother.

He once revealed that his family, including his mother and brother, would often listen to alternative rock, such as music by Arctic Monkeys and Café Tacvba. This inspired his guitar solos later.
