Jan Tarrant Biography

At some point after graduating from college, Jan Tarrant relocated to New York City. Since 1986, she has been hosting workshops and classes for aspiring actors as well as for aspiring writers in New York. She once served as the production manager at The Actor’s Studio in New York. She had the opportunity to work under Polish-born American actor, director, and theatre practitioner Lee Strasberg when she was holding classes at The Actor’s Studio’s West Hollywood branch.

Over the course of the last three decades, some of her other prominent professional associates have been Ellen Burstyn, Harvey Keitel, Drew Barrymore, and Al Pacino. She also has the distinction of being Angelina Jolie’s first acting coach, having taught her since she was 12 years old. Since September 2013, she has been associated with Class Act Studios as an acting teacher.

With an impressive career that has spanned over five decades, Alfredo James “Al” Pacino is generally regarded as one of the greatest actors to ever grace the silver screen. Tarrant’s relationship with Pacino lasted for about a year and their daughter, Julie Marie Pacino, was born on October 16, 1989. Julie has followed in her parents’ footsteps into the world of performing arts. She is a stage and film actress and producer.
